Project plan
Phase 1: Analysis- planning and conceptualization
◦ Determine needs and requirements, develop concept for the conversion from fuel
based to electric, identify resources and budgets
Phase 2: Further research
◦ Conduct further statistical research, define Change Management & Score Creeps,
Analysis of success factors & SWOT
Phase 3: Preparation and approval
◦ Create a detailed concept plan and present proposals for approval, select location and
identify necessary permits
Project plan
Phase 4: Implementation of green fleet approach
◦ Establish the Electrification facility, procure necessary resources, hire and train
qualified staff, implement safety and quality control measures
Phase 5: Testing and evaluation
◦ Conduct test runs on engines, evaluate effectiveness and efficiency, collect feedback
from participants.
Phase 6: Implementation and expansion
◦ Implement improvements and adaptations in the milage and consumptions part and
expand program to other locations and departments of DB Schenker if desired and feasible
Milestones
•Step 1 – Assess vehicles and EV charging that fits business operations
• what type of vehicles will fit the needs of your organization
• determine the driving patterns, distances, and usage of your current fleet routes
•Step 2 – Determine available funding and incentives
• vehicle costs, but also charging infrastructure
•Step 3 – Develop an energy management strategy
• daily power requirements
• determining electric load management strategies
•Step 4 – Determine site feasibility
• EV charging infrastructure will be installed matters
• adequate power at a site
Tasks
Working with a commercial truck rental and leasing client to implement Electric Vehicle Supply
Equipment (EVSE) used to charge their class 6-8 vehicles across five facilities in the Western United States
Conducted on-site assessments of client sites for optimal conceptual site layout and charging strategy
Thorough review of vehicle, operational, and utility needs to determine ideal EVSE requirements
Smart site design to allow for efficient utilization of charger locations while allowing for optimal fleet
operations and future growth
Ensuring project design can maximize program funding and incentives to help offset the costs
Supporting the client with technology selection for charging and software integration
Developing engineered site designs while coordinating permitting and utility interconnection
Creating strategic charging transition plans and phasing to allow for future growth of fleet vehicles and
associated charging
