Nursing Assessment
Assessment of a patient suspected of COVID-19 should include:
Travel History. When evaluating patients with a fever and an acute respiratory
disease, healthcare professionals should ask about their travel history in detail.
Physical Examination. Patients who have recently been to Wuhan, China and have a
fever, cough, or shortness of breath must be immediately isolated.

Planning and Goals
Learn more about COVID-19 and its management.
Improve body temperature levels.
Restore breathing patten back to normal.
Reduce anxiety and relax more.
Nursing Interventions and Rationale
Monitor Vital signs. Keep an eye on the patient's temperature because infections typically start with a high body temperature. It would be best
to monitor the patient's breathing rate because shortness of breath is another common symptom.
Monitor 02 saturation. Due to compromised breathing, the patient's O2 saturation should be closely watched.
Maintain respiratory isolation. Maintain tissues by the patient's bed; appropriately dispose of bodily fluids; instruct the patient to cover their
mouth while coughing or sneezing; wear masks; and place respiratory stickers on the chart, linens, etc.
Enforced strict hand hygiene. Teach the patient and others to wash their hands after coughing to lessen or stop the infection from spreading.
Manage hyperthermia. Use appropriate therapy for the elevated temperature to maintain normothermia and reduce metabolic needs.
Educate the client. Provide details about the spread of diseases, diagnostic procedures, disease progression, complications, and virus defense.
