In this lesson we are going to work as a whole class to analyse the
song ‘Hurricane’.

This analysis will replicate exactly what you will need to do in the
planning stage of your assessment.

This analysis will take place over the next 3 lessons. It is important
you are here for each of the lessons so you have the full example
before going into your planning of the assessment.
What and Why
What?
We are going to analyse a song that addresses a social issue.
We will be using a analysis scaffold sheet to help focus the
analysis and all areas we need to identify.

Why?
This is exactly what you will be doing for your assessment.
Same scaffold sheet, same expectations just a different song.
If you can build your skills with this exemplar you will be
successful in your assessment.
Expectations
 You need to complete the analysis along with the class. If you
don’t complete the work you will need to complete it at lunchtime
and I will be contacting home.
 You can discuss with your elbow partner but not across the room.
 If you have something to add to the conversation you need to
raise your hand…Goal #1
 It is ok to have an opinion on something that we discuss in class
about social issues however it is not ok to make someone else feel
like their opinion.

Rhythm Pattern identified in the song.

Rhyme Scheme identified in the song.

Chorus identified in the song.
