INTRODUCTION
 Since fossil fuels are killing the planet, only renewable energy source
can beat the need for fossil fuels.
 Its normally difficult to construct transmission lines and transformation
systems in most remote areas due to their nature.
 The photovoltaic, wind, and hydro power have the greatest potential to
satisfy our energy needs.

MODELING AND SIMULATION OF HYBRID
SOLAR-WIND ENERGY SYSTEM– AN OVERVIEW
 Mostly known as solar wind hybrid system, they are more advanced than
single powered system, such as wind and solar energy.
 Vertical axis wind turbine have a lower starting wind speed, compared to
other models. It needs a wind speed of 2 to 3 m/s.
 The concept of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and its role in
optimizing energy extraction from both solar and wind sources.

SCOPE AND RELEVANCE OF THE WORK
 Since solar and wind resources vary from an area to another. It is very
crucial to optimize and simulate the system in order to construct a solar
wind hybrid system that can steadily supply power and cost effective
 Offers economic benefits through reduced energy costs, potential
revenue from excess energy production, and job creation in the
renewable energy sector .
 Supports energy access in remote areas and reduces transmission losses
associated with centralized power generation.

output into alternative current power output.
 Under all operating conditions to meet the load the hybrid system is controlled to
give maximum output power.
 Non-linear characteristics of wind power system and PV system such as the power,
voltage and current are summarized for maximum power point tracking.
 For a particular irradiance level, maximum power generated by wind generator/PV
System is delivered by using MPPT technique at the load.
