GOD EXISTS
Presentation of group 4
Theory of Divine
01 Creation
In the beginning, God created the
heavens and the earth. God then
transformed the planet by creating
plants, animals and finally Adam and
Eve. They then were responsible for
creating human beings to create other
human beings.
According to Father Suarez, life
on Earth was created in just six
days. Since the beginning of time,
the diversity of organisms has
remained constant. According to
the theory of special creation, the
diversity of life forms will not
change in the future (Smith and
Szathmáry, 1999).
02 Creation Demands a Creator.
The Hubble telescope continues to reveal
previously unknown galaxies. Our
awesome universe simply astounds us.
Under the night sky, King David of
ancient Israel asked God
"When I consider Your
heavens, the work of Your
fingers, the moon and the
stars, which You have
ordained, what is man that
You are mindful of him, and
the son of man that You visit
him?"(Psalm 8:3–4)
David called the universe the work of God's
fingers. He knew that God created the universe.
Did the universe have a beginning? What do
scientists say? Famous astrophysicist Stephen
Hawking, in a lecture titled "The Beginning of
Time," stated the view of most astronomers
today: "The universe has not existed forever.
Rather, the universe, and time itself, had a
beginning in the Big Bang, about 15 billion years
ago."
"By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by
the word of God, so that the things which are seen were
not made of things which are visible" (Hebrews 11:3).
AQUINAS’S FIVE PROOFS
FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
☩ 1. The Argument from Motion: Our senses can
perceive motion by seeing that things act on one
another. Whatever moves is moved by something else.
Consequently, there must be a First Mover that
creates this chain reaction of motions. This is God.
God sets all things in motion and gives them their
potential.
☩ 2. The Argument from Efficient Cause: Because
nothing can cause itself, everything must have a
cause or something that creates an effect on another
thing. Without a first cause, there would be no others.
Therefore, the First Cause is God.
● 3. The Argument from Necessary Being: Because
objects in the world come into existence and pass out
of it, it is possible for those objects to exist or not exist
at any particular time. However, nothing can come
from nothing. This means something must exist at all
times. This is God.
● 4. The Argument from Gradation: There are different
degrees of goodness in different things. Following the
“Great Chain of Being,” which states there is a
gradual increase in complexity, created objects move
from unformed inorganic matter to biologically
complex organisms. Therefore, there must be a being
of the highest form of good. This perfect being is
God.
● 5. The Argument from Design: All things have an
order or arrangement that leads them to a particular
goal. Because the order of the universe cannot be the
result of chance, design and purpose must be at work.
This implies divine intelligence on the part of the
designer. This is God.
5. The Holy bible
And without faith it is impossible to
please Him, for he who comes to God
must believe that He is and that He is a
rewarder of those who seek Him.
Hebrew 11:6
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I
AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall
say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has
sent me to you.’”
Exodus 3:14
However, there is a God in heaven who
reveals mysteries, and He has made
known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will
take place in the latter days. This was
your dream and the visions in your mind
while on your bed.
Daniel 2: 28
John to the seven churches that are in
Asia: Grace to you and peace, from Him
who is and who was and who is to come,
and from the seven Spirits who are before
His throne,
Revelation 1:4
“I am the Alpha and the
Omega,” says the Lord God,
“who is and who was and who
is to come, the Almighty.”
Revelation 1:8
And the four living creatures, each one of
them having six wings, are full of eyes around
and within; and day and night they do not
cease to say,“HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is THE LORD
GOD, THE ALMIGHTY, WHO WAS AND WHO IS
AND WHO IS TO COME.”
Revelation 4:8
saying,“We give You thanks, O Lord God,
the Almighty, who are and who were,
because You have taken Your great power
and have begun to reign.
Revelation 11:17
And I heard the angel of the waters
saying, “Righteous are You, who are and
who were, O Holy One, because You
judged these things;
Revelation 16:5
GOD DON’T EXISTS
The problem of evil
The most well-known objection against the idea of an all-knowing,
loving god is the problem of evil. And it's old. For instance, it
offers the main idea of the Book of Job according to Abrahamic
beliefs. However, Epicurus, a Greek philosopher, came up with
the phrase in its most well-known form approximately 300 BC.
He asked: "Is God eager to stop evil but powerless? He is not
omnipotent in that case. Is he capable but unmotivated? He then
becomes hostile. Is he able and willing to do it? therefore whence
does evil originate?"
The problem of evil
A modern variation by philosopher Paul Draper moves away from
whether the problem renders a loving God logically impossible. His
version leans toward the question of probability:
1. Gratuitous evils exist.
2. The hypothesis of indifference that is, if there are supernatural beings,
then they are indifferent to gratuitous evils is a better explanation for the
first point than theism.
3. Therefore, evidence prefers that no God, as commonly understood by
theists, exists.
The problem of evil
More personally, the Catholic priest Jean Meslier of France
repudiated his theism because he considered the existence of
evil as just one of many arguments against theism. After
seeing the atrocities of World War II and the Holocaust,
American philosopher John Rawls gave up his Christian
faith. Primo Levi, a survivor of the Holocaust, said it best:
"There is Auschwitz, and so there cannot be God."

The problem of evil
• Located in German-occupied
Auschwitz Poland, Auschwitz consisted
of three camps including a
killing center. The camps
were opened over the course
of nearly two years, 1940-
1942. Auschwitz closed in
January 1945 with its
liberation by the Soviet army.
The problem of evil
Auschwitz • More than 1.1 million
people died at Auschwitz,
including nearly one
million Jews. Those Jews
who were not sent
directly to gas chambers
were selected for forced
labor.
The teleological argument
Also known as “the argument from design,” the teleological argument
claims the world’s complexity proves a designer exists. The argument is,
again, rather straightforward:
1. Human-made objects were created with intention, by design, and for a
purpose.
2. The universe resembles human-made objects in important ways.
3. Therefore, it is probable that the universe was created with intention,
by design, for a purpose.
4. The universe is much more complex than human-made objects.
5. Therefore, it is probable that a powerful being designed the universe.
The teleological argument
At least Socrates used this argument, but the Stoic thinkers
evolved it into the forms we commonly use today. It was
accepted by the Islamic scholar Averroes, Rabbi Meir is
mentioned directly in a story about it, and even Isaac Newton
agreed with it. But William Paley presented the most well-
known version of it. In his "watchmaker analogy," he makes
us think of what we might say if we were to explain how a
watch we found on the ground got there. As he states:
The teleological argument
“The inference we think is inevitable, that the
watch must have had a maker — that there
must have existed, at some time and at some
place or other, an artificer or artificers who
formed it for the purpose which we find it
actually to answer …”
The teleological argument
Of the arguments for the existence of a God, this one
has perhaps the greatest connection to the parts of
our lives outside of philosophy. It asks us to consider
the world’s beauty, the depths of the mysteries of
nature, the intricacies of the environment, and what
those mean for how we understand the world and
how it came to be.
Russell’s teapot
One of the more whimsical arguments against the existence of any gods
was put forward by Bertrand Russell. And like any member of the
British aristocracy in good standing, the third Earl Russell invoked tea in
his argument.
He asked his readers to suppose that he was seriously advancing the idea
of a teapot floating in orbit around the sun. This teapot is also impossible
to detect. The question then: Is it on you to disprove the impossibility of
this teapot’s existence, or is it his responsibility to prove it is real?
Russell’s teapot
Russell’s point was that anyone making such a claim is the
one who must prove it — not the person objecting to it. And
since nobody takes arguments of a space-faring teapot
seriously, why then should we treat other such arguments as
sacred? Perhaps the greatest legacy of the argument is its use
as a tool to remind users where the burden of proof lies when
an assertion is made.
Thank You!!
