General description
 Enhance the students’ knowledge of the world influential
philosophical, literary and scientific trends to enable them cross
frontiers between sciences, literature and philosophy

  Sharpen the students’ critical thinking skills to promote their


competencies of inquiry, analysis and synthesis

  Upgrade the students’ perception of the Other cultures,


civilizations and identities enabling them to develop their identity
in a multicultural global world

  Help students read closely and evaluate critically main trends in


philosophy and literature, and discuss analytically and in depth
the characteristics of world literature

  Build context-based skills in reading, writing, comprehension,


vocabulary, grammar and mechanics

 Week 1: Introduction to “world Cultures and Science Module”

 Week 2 : World thought in engineering studies

 Week 3 : Theology in cultures from Greek to Modern era

 Week 5 : Metaphysics, reality and being

 Week 6 : Renaissance ideals crisis and romanticism

 Week 7 : Patterns in world literature1 ( ancient to 16C)

 Week 8: Epistemology, science and paradigms shift
