Head Mirror

Aural Speculum

During ear surgeries,to


straighten the external
auditory canal and
make ear drum visible.
AURAL PROBE

it is used for foreign body


from ear,removal of
otomycotic debris and
discharge from EAC.
Probing of aural polyp and
other mass in ear canal
TUNNING FORK

It is used clinically to test


hearing and identify the
type of hearing loss.
AURAL SYRINGE

It is used as treatment of
choice for cerumen (ear wax)
and usually effective and

irrigation,sometimes foreign
body like insects,small
stones can get into ear.
SEIGEL
SPECULUM

Used to perform
pneumatic otoscopy.
Mobility of ear drum can
be tested.
Provides two and half
times magnification of the
eardrum.
Politzer bag is an
instrument that is used in
blocked eustachian
tube.A soft rubber bulb
used to inflate the
middle ear by increasing
air pressure in the
nasopharynx.
Maringotome

Used for maringotomy.A


sickle knife used in
maringoplasty can also be
used to perform
myringotomy
ET catheter
uses-
Eustachian tube catheterization
nasal foreign body removal
MASTOID
RETRACTOR

Used in mastoidectomy to
retract soft tissues after
incison and elevation of
flaps.
Lempert curette

Used for removal of


bony septa and
granulations in mastoid
surgery.
Laryngeal Forceps

used in endolaryngeal
procedures have features
such as cage tips to retian
tissue,long working lengths
to ensure max reach,and
angled jaws to enable
instrumensts to pass behind
the tongue.
Tonsiller Pillar retractor
Seperates tonsils from its capsule
It holds the fossa open at top to facilitate
the ligation of bleeding vessels at top of
fossa
Tonsil holding forceps
It is used to grasp and hold
the tonsil during

helps hold the tonsil away
from its bed to facilitate
dissection and prevent injury
to structures in bed of tonsil.
Tonsiller suction
It is used for precision suction in the oral cavity

It is used to examine
back of the nasal cavity
and nasopharynx
Anterior Rhinoscope
Anterior rhinoscopy is an
examination of the nasal
cavities enabling to note
nasal secretions,swellings
of the turbinates,positions
of the nasal
septum,ulcerations or
presence of foreign body.
Nasal Snare
Used for removal of nasal

St Clair Thmpson’s
nasal speculum

It has long blades which


are concave from inside.
Used in nasal surgery,eg
SMR or septoplasty.
Walsham’s forceps

Used for disimpacting and


reducing fractures of nasal
bone.
Freer’s double ended
elevator

Used for elevation of


mucoperichondrium or
periosteum in SMR or
Septoplasty operation.
Doyen’s mouth gag

Used to keep mouth open


for intraoral surgery
when retraction of the
tongue is not required or

tongue [Link] is
applied on one side of
mouth on molar teeth.
Killian’s nasal gouge
Used for removal of septal spurs or
bony crest and ridges in SMR
operaton.
Negus Artery Forceps

Its tip is sharply curved .The


forceps is used as
replacement
forceps to ligate the bleeding
point.
Draffin’s bipod
Each pod has four rings. They
can be assembled to vary the
height at which the tongue
blade of the Boyle-Davis
mouth gag can be

Magauran’s plate.
