Overview of Pollution Types

Pollution can be classified into four main types: air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, and noise pollution. Air pollution is the introduction of harmful substances into the air that can damage health and the environment. Water pollution occurs when harmful substances are released into bodies of water, making the water unsafe for drinking and contact. Soil pollution involves contaminating the earth's crust, which can negatively impact plant and animal life. Noise pollution refers to the spread of loud or unpleasant sounds in the environment.

POLLUTION
• The Introduction of harmful materials into the environment. These harmful
materials are called pollutants
• Pollutants can be natural, such as volcanic ash.
• They can also be created by human activity, such as trash or runoff produced by
factories.
• Pollutants damage the quality of air, water, and land.
Pollution is basically classified in 4 types

pollution
Air pollution
• Presence of substances in air that are harmful to health of humans and other living
beings, or cause damage to the climate or to material.
• Air pollution may cause diseases, allergies, and even death to humans; it may also cause
harm to other living organisms such as animals and food crop, and may damage the
natural environment., For example :- climate change, ozone depletion, acid rain, etc.
• Air pollution can be generated by both human and natural processes.
• Air pollution can cause numerous pollution-related diseases, including respiratory
infections, heart diseases, lung cancer, etc.
• Most effective means to reduce air pollution is the transition to renewable energy.
Water pollution
• The release of substances into subsurface groundwater or into lakes, rivers, oceans, etc.
• In addition to release of substances, such as chemical or microorganism into water bodies
results in water pollution.
• Polluted water is unsafe for drinking and swimming, some people got infected due to hazardous
chemicals and bacteria which is present in polluted water.
• There are some natural sources of water pollution, oil and natural gases can leak into ocean and
lakes from natural underground sources.
• To counter water pollution, sewages should be properly managed, we should ensure minimal
use of bleach or detergents.
