Roulette is one of the most popular
wagering games, and is prominently
featured in absolutely every casino.
The roulette wheel was invented by
a French physicist, inventor and
mathematician named Blaise Pascal.
Initially, Pascal wasn’t trying to
invent a casino game but was trying
to invent a perpetual motion
machine. A machine that continues
to operate without drawing energy
from an external source. His
experiment failed, but the process
gave birth to one of the most
popular casino games of all time.
Miguel will make a
40 cm roulette as
his project in
math. If it will be
lighted around,
how many
centimeters of
string lights will be
needed?
a.What project will Miguel make?
b.Why Miguel chose roulette as his math
project?
c. Why do you think Miguel want his
roulette to be lighted around?
d.What kind of child Miguel is?
e.What does the problem want you to
find out?

PROBLEM:
How many centimeters of string
lights will be needed?
C=πxd
C = 3.14 x 40cm
C = 125.6 cm
C = 2 x π x r or C=πxrx2
= 2 x 3.14 x 6 in = 3.14 x 6 in x 2
= 6.28 x 6 in =18.84 in x 2
= 37.68 in = 37.68 in

A.Direction: Observe the circles below, then find the
circumference using the formula : C = π x d or C= 2 x π x r

1. 2.

B.Direction: Illustrate the circle and solve the following problem.
3. What is the circumference of a cylindrical jar 40.8 cm in diameter?
4. A circular pond has a radius of 4 m and needs to be fenced. What length of fencing
is needed to fence around the circular pond?
CIRCLESPIN
Materials: spinner
patterns, paper clips,
pencil/ballpen,
cartolina, scotch tape
Directions:
1.To use the spinners, one end of a paper
clip should be held at the center of the
spinner by a pencil point or ballpen point
while the free end is spun around. Each
members of each group must pick “holen”.
The member who picks the blue “holen” will
spin the NAME SPINNER, and light green
“holen” will spin the NUMBER SPINNER.
2.The number that is spun becomes
the value of the circle’s part whose
name is spun. After spinning the
Number and Name Spinner, put a
scotch tape on the paper clip. The
rest of the group will solve for the
circumference. Show the solution
and report.
How do you visualize the
circumference of a circle?
We visualize the circumference
of a circle by measuring the edge
to measure the distance around
it.
What is the formula in finding the
circumference of a circle?

C = π x d and C = 2 x π x r
How much
have learned?
HOMEWORK: Write the solution on a
1/2 sheet of paper.
A.Direction: Study the picture below and solve the
circumference. Use the formula: C = π x d or
C= 2 x π x r
1.
1.5 m

2.Roni jogs around a circular park with a radius of 28 meters.

What is the distance covered by Roni if he jogs around the
park two times? If she jogs 520 meters around the park, will
he be able to complete 3 rounds?
