Electrical Engineering & Web Dev Internships

The document summarizes Himanshu Kumar's internship presentation from his studies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at NSIT. It discusses two internships: 1) A summer internship at BSPTCL where he learned about power systems, transmission lines, and electrical safety; and 2) An online internship in web development using HTML, CSS, and tools like Brackets where he enhanced his knowledge of web design. The presentation provides technical details on topics covered during the power systems internship like the power triangle, fault analysis, transformers, and protection equipment. It also gives an overview of the concepts and software taught during the web development internship.

Department of:-
Electrical & Electronics Engineering
NETAJI SUBHAS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Introduction
As a full time student at NSIT, I was provided an opportunity to undertake internships
at BSPTCL & on Web Development. The degree towards I am currently studying is a
Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics.
Here, I have done two internships which are listed below:
• Summer internship done at BSPTCL (132/33KV)
• Web Development Using HTML & CSS (online)

Summer internship done at BSPTCL (132/33KV)
Introduction
In this internship, I was introduced about various topics related to:
• power system
• transmission line system
• different electrical safety equipment
• transmission line parameter
• its performance and how it was mentioned
Power Triangle

• Real/active power across R (P)-KW

• Reactive power across L/C (Q)-KVAR
• Apparent/total power (S)-KVA
• Complex power=P+Q
Representation of Power System

• Single Line Diagram of a Power System

• Impedance Diagram Representation of a Power System
• Reactance Diagram Representation of a Power System
Single Line Diagram

A complete diagram of power system representing all the three phases becomes too
complicated.
Single line diagram is the representation of a power system using the simple symbol
for each component.
Why we need Reactance Diagram?

Here, impedance diagram is not a series network. So, it is difficult to find current &
voltage.
The reactance diagram gives an accurate result for many power system studies, such
as short-circuit  studies, etc.
Per Unit System

• defined as the ratio of actual value in any unit to the base or reference value in
the same unit.
• dimensionless.
Fault analysis
Open Circuit Fault

• The open circuit fault mainly occurs because of the failure of one or two
conductors.
• The open circuit fault takes place in series with the line, and because of this, it is
also called the series fault.
Short Circuit Fault
Fault

Symmetrica Unsymmetrical
l Fault
Fault
• LLL • LL
• LLLG • LG
• LLG
In this type of fault, the conductors of the different phases come into contact with
each other with a power line, power transformer or any other circuit element due to
which the large current flow in one or two phases of the system.
Symmetric Fault

The faults which involve all the three phases is known as the symmetrical fault.
Such types of fault remain balanced even after the fault.
Unsymmetrical Fault

• The fault gives rise to unsymmetrical current, i.e., current differing in magnitude
and phases in the three phases of the power system.
• The unsymmetrical makes the system unbalanced.
Transformers
• Power Transformers
• Distribution Transformer
• Isolation Transformers
• Instrument Transformer
• Current Transformer
• Potential Transformer
Protecting equipment
• Lightning Arrester
• Line trap (Wave trap/high-frequency stopper)
• Circuit breaker
• Air break breaker
• Miniature circuit breaker
• Oil circuit breaker (tank type or bulk oil)
• Minimum oil circuit breaker
• Air blast circuit breaker
• SF6 (Sulphur hexafluoride circuit breaker)
• Vacuum circuit breaker.

• Isolator
Earthing
Below are the basic needs of Earthing:
• To protect human lives as well as provide safety to electrical devices and appliances
from leakage current.
• To keep voltage as constant in the healthy phase (If fault occurs on any one phase).
• To Protect Electric system and buildings form lighting.
Types of Earthing:
• Pipe earthing
• Plate earthing
• Strip earthing
Important points
• In tap changing transformer, taps are
provided on HV side.
• Transposition of conductors is done to
balance the inductance.
• C.B works on DC.

Web Development Using HTML & CSS
Introduction

• This internship provided us essential skills and knowledge one requires in the
field of web designing.
• By taking this training we enhanced our knowledge in Web designing.
• First, we learned the theory aspect and then we put that into practice.
• By learning how to code in HTML and CSS it is easy to build and design our
own websites with all the changes we want.
Tools & Technology used

HTML
• Hyper Text Mark-up Language.
• Hypertext defines the link between the web pages.
• Markup language defines the text document within tag which defines the
structure of web pages.
• HTML5 is the fifth and current version of HTML.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Page Title</title>
</head>
<body> <h1>This is a Heading</h1> <p> This is a paragraph. </p> </body> </html>
 output:
CSS
• Cascading Style Sheets
• allows you to apply styles to web pages.
Example:
<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title> HTML 5 Demo</title> <style> .intern { font-
size:40px; font-weight:bold; color:green; } body { text-align:center; } </style> </head>
<body> <div class = "intern">Hello World!</div> <aside> <div>This is Himanshu</div>
</aside> </body> </html>

Output:
Brackets
•open-source code editor.
•best free tools for Front End Web Development.
•fast and easy to work with.

Important Features of Brackets:

Live Preview – This feature helps you to see the output of your HTML or CSS
code instantly on the browser as soon as you do the changes.
Clean Interface – As it is user friendly, it has a beautiful clear interface.
Cross Platform – This tool works on Windows, Mac and most of the Linux
distributions.
