INTRODUCTION
◦ College English 2, Reading and Writing Course aims to encourage the development of a student’s
reading and writing skills. These skills are interwoven and inextricable. It is believed that good readers
are also good writers. At the beginning of the semester, each student will be evaluated on these skills by
doing a writing activity. This is to ascertain individual strengths and weaknesses, so as to enhance the
student’s learning process. In addition, it is also designed to engage students through a comprehensive
and systematic process that will integrate the two, effectively. Each student takes ownership of his or her
learning, which in turn, empowers each one to persevere and overcome all fears of learning a foreign
language. Furthermore, the Course content of each unit, with its engaging content, will encourage
students to research further, and be prepared to share their findings in class discussions and activities.
This will promote a rich interchange, and ultimately, lead to an interesting and captivating piece of
writing.
