ABSTRACT
A Peltier-based thermoelectric generator (TEG) is a device that
converts heat energy directly into electrical energy using the Peltier
effect.
A Peltier TEG consists of multiple pairs of p-type and n-type
semiconductor materials connected in series, forming a thermocouple.
The thermocouples are arranged such that one side of the device is
exposed to a heat source (e.g. a hot plate or a flame) and the other
side is exposed to a heat sink (e.g. a cooling fan or water).
As heat flows from the hot side to the cold side, a temperature
difference is created across the thermocouples, generating a voltage
that can be used to power an external circuit.
The Peltier TEG has several advantages over traditional power
generation technologies, such as its ability to generate electricity
from waste heat and its lack of moving parts, making it reliable and
durable.
Peltier TEGs are commonly used in applications such as
automotive waste heat recovery, portable power generation, and
solar thermoelectric power generation.
Overall, a Peltier TEG is a simple and reliable device for
generating electricity from a temperature gradient, and its compact
size and lack of moving parts make it ideal for use in a variety of
applications.
