JIO

• Jio soft launched on 27 December 2015 with a beta for partners and
employees, and became publicly available on 5 September 2016. It is
the largest mobile network operator in India and the third largest
mobile network operator in the world with over 42.62 crore (426.2
million) subscribers.

• STRENTHS –
AIRTEL
• Airtel India, commonly known as Airtel, is the second largest provider of mobile
telephony and third largest provider of fixed telephony in India, and is also a provider
of broadban and subscription television services. The brand is operated by several
subsidiaries of Bharti Airtel, with Bharti Hexacom and Bharti Telemedia providing broadband
fixed line services and Bharti Infratel providing telecom passive infrastructure service such as
telecom equipment and telecom towers. Currently, Airtel provides 4G and 4G+ services all
over India and 5G service in selected cities. Currently offered services include fixed-line
broadband, and voice services depending upon the country of operation. Airtel had also
rolled out its VoLTE technology across all Indian telecom circles.
• Airtel is the first Indian telecom service provider to achieve Cisco Gold Certification. It also
acts as a carrier for national and international long distance communication services. The
company has a submarine cable landing station at Chennai, with a connection to Singapore.
Airtel was named India's second most valuable brand in the first ever Brandz ranking by
Millward Brown and WPP plc in 2014
Vodafone Idea
• Vodafone Idea is an Indian telecom operator with its headquarters based
in Mumbai and Gandhinagar. It is a pan-India integrated GSM operator
offering 2G,3G, 4G, 4G+, VoLTE, and VoWiFi service. As of 31 October
2022, Vi has a subscriber base of 245.62 million, making it third largest
mobile telecommunications network in India and 11 th largest mobile
telecommunications network in the world. The company was created on
31 August 2018 by the merger of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular, to
form a new entity named Vodafone Idea Limited.
• On 7 September 2020, Vodafone Idea unveiled its new brand identity, 'Vi'
which involves the integration of the company's erstwhile separate
brands 'Vodafone' and 'Idea' into one unified brand.

TATA DOCOMO
• Tata Docomo was an Indian mobile network operator, a wholly owned
subsidiary of Tata Teleservices. In October 2017, Bharti
Airtel announced a merger deal with Tata Teleservices and the
acquisition of Tata Docomo. As of 21 July 2019, all Tata Docomo users
are merged with Airtel network and provided with all the Airtel
services.
• The consumer mobile businesses of Tata Docomo, Tata
Teleservices (TTSL) and Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Limited (TTML)
have been merged into Bharti Airtel from 1 July 2019.
AIRCEL
• Aircel was founded by Chinnakannan Sivasankaran from Kovilur
village, Cheyyar taluk, Tiruvannamalai district and started its
operations in the Tamil Nadu telecom circle in 1999. It became the
leading operator in Tamil Nadu and one of the fastest growing mobile
operators in India.
