Dogeball is a complex game.
Two teams battle for dominance.
There are many rules you must know
to play and many strategies you must
know to win.
That’s it for me.
Rules
Basic Rules
Two teams, 20 players per team (15 playing, 5 subs)
Ten 8.5 inch rubber balls
Two 25 minutes halves
Hit a player, they are out
Make a catch, the thrower is out and another player comes
back in from the catcher's jail
Balls can be used to block, if you drop the ball while
blocking you are out
If you are hit and a teammate catches the ball, no one is
out and a teammate comes back in from your jail

-More Rules-
Opening rush: All players behind the baseline, balls lined
up on the center line. When the whistle blows, players
charge for the balls. NO SLIDING OR KICKING. Balls must
be brought to the baseline to become active.
Shot clock: If a team has all 10 balls or 5 or less players
the team must throw a ball every 10 seconds or lose all the
balls. Rolling or throwing out of bounds does not count.
Penalties: Yellow Card given for minor offenses, Red card
given for serious offenses. 2 Yellow cards equal a Red
card.

The complexity and

make it a great game to
watch and an even
better game to play.

On to Catches
Strategies
Overhead
A direct and powerful throw.
Back
Sidearm throw
Sidearm
The sidearm throw is often less tiring and adds a
curve to the flight path.
Back
Gorilla throw
Gorilla
Gorilla gripping the ball for a throw can add speed
and unpredictable curve.
BackCross-court throw
Cross-court
Catch them unaware by throwing across the court at
them.
Back
Other throws
Other
An underhanded gorilla throw can add a tricky curve
to the ball.

On to Dodges
Strategies
Normal
A basic catch. The thrower is out, one player from the catcher's jail comes
back in.
Back
Team catch
Team Catch
If your teammate catches a ball
that hit you, you’re still in and
one player in your jail comes
back in. The thrower of a team
catch is not out.
Back
Strip Catch
Strip
Steal a ball out of an opponent's hands.
Same results as a basic catch.

Back to dodges
Strategies
Basic
The basic block is easy to quick and easy to execute.
Back
Kneeling
Kneeling
Kneeling to block makes it much easier to defend your feet.
Back
Running
Running
If you run and block at the same time, you will quickly get close to your now
unarmed opponents.
Back
Gorilla
Gorilla
Gorilla gripping the ball gives you a tight enough hold to block with one hand.
