Focus:
a It was an evening just like any other in the
Chen family apartment.
b Suddenly, the lights went off. It was a power
cut. c Mr Chen found his torch, but it was only a
small beam.
d The apartment got hot and the fridge and
freezer stopped working too.
e Grandma’s ice-cream cake was going to melt.
Practice:
a ‘Is everybody okay?’ asked Mr Chen.
b Amy had a good idea to use the light from her
