Introduction & Background of the Study
In recent years, Filipinos have been known as food lovers. According to a YouGov study, Filipinos are
likely to enjoy dishes from different countries. This proves that Filipinos are not selective about their food.
As time went on, Filipinos' appetite for food did not change. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic
happened, many working food businesses were affected. Not just because of the COVID-19 pandemic
itself, but these factors such as restrictions, employment and smallholders produce some effects, too (Palo
et al... 2020). As a result, food access had become limited and some people were frightened to leave their
houses. Therefore, storekeepers became reliant on food delivery platforms to serve those customers (Li et
al... 2020). If a customer orders a product, there will be a separate payment for the delivery. And it
becomes an inconvenience, but still a way for their safety. Furthermore, according to Cision, small
businesses use digital platforms (e.g. Facebook and YouTube) amid the pandemic, to engage with
consumers and; also, to improve their social media reputation as part of their business strategy, because
the pandemic limits face-to-face interaction. After months, Malacañang stated that 48 areas in the
Philippines were approved to undergo alert level 1 status. Malabon is one of them (Inquirer, 2022). That
being the case, all businesses are permitted to operate with minimum public health standards (Department
of Health). Therefore, the production of food businesses in Malabon is almost back to normal and food
delivery is still an option, but no longer necessary. However, the virus is still a thing of concern; that is why
people still wear face masks. Malabon specifically is known for its fish paste (Philippines Cities). And also for
some known food spots in a subtle way.
3
Introduction & Background of the Study
These basically are Dolor's Kakanin, Aling Mely's Carinderia, and Cocina Luna (Pastor, 2022). These food businesses
have been serving food to Malabonians and travelers for years; that is why they are famous and known for their
business names. However, there are many growing small food businesses in Malabon that are trying to compete with
those bigger competitors. According to Malabon annual report (2019), the number of new business applications
increased by 18.07 percent.
Small businesses commonly use social media to boost their digital reputation. But, it is hard to gather likes and
followers. Facebook offers its feature; social media marketing, but this is rather costly. According to a benchmark
statistical study by AdExpresso, the average cost-per-click on Facebook amounts to $0.44 or P23.0274 (Bangko Sentral
ng Pilipinas, 2022). For example, you are planning to put ads on Facebook, targeting 50 people around Malabon. If you
multiply P23.0274 by 50, you will be paying them 1151.37 peso. That would be pretty expensive for those small
businesses. Aside from social media marketing, there are known types of advertising; the personal connection, and
offline marketing. Personal connection comes at a cost much cheaper than traditional methods of offline marketing
where there is no guarantee if the target audience will ever come across the advertisement, Mr. Vatsal Rajgor said.
However, expanding connections is a tough battle for small entrepreneurs and also, for those who just started a
business. From the said situation, the researchers want to create a free web-based advertising website that is food-
business-focused. Therefore, those businesses could freely showcase their products to users.
4
Theoretical Framework
The study is supported by the theory of advertising. This theory is divided into five parts. Those are
the meditation of reality, shifting loyalties; the magic of meaning, the hidden message, and imitative
desire.
The researchers, on the other hand, will rely on one theory. The shifting loyalties were created by
Hazel W. Warlaumont. The principle discussed that advertisements create intense brand
loyalty, they also prompt customers to shift their enthusiasm and disown their current
loyalties for a relatively new brand in the market.
Since the study plans to create a free advertising website and promote it to users, in its early phase;
once it is competently publicized and becomes convenient to others, the researchers expect that the food
businesses that are not users yet, will utilize the website, because it is free and reliable. This is the result
of a new service entering the market. It becomes a haven, where it provides the features they desire.
5
Conceptual Framework
Figure 1 Circled Environment for Variables and Its Effects to Each Other
Figure 1 shows the cause and effect of advertising websites (Independent variable) to visitors (Dependent variable). After carefully checking the
internet resources, the researchers could not find any websites that had the same objectives in this study. Therefore, it concludes that users
(visitors) will become dependent on a website to provide them with information about food businesses in Malabon. Aside from that, there are
two variables mentioned above; those are moderator and mediator. In this study, user-friendliness, attractive web design, and being informative
are the moderators. Simply because they have direct effects on the customer (visitors) experience and no effects on the website itself. And
lastly, the mediator of food businesses. To explain it in simple terms, the mediators can be influenced by independent variables. The analogy
behind it, if the website existed, the food business would gain from it, and if not, they would be paying for the service called advertisement; to
promote their products. In addition to this, the mediator interconnects the dependent variable to the independent variable. In this case, the more
food businesses utilize the website, the more it becomes informative, and the website will attract more visitors. 6
Figure 2: Input, Process, Output(IPO) Diagram
The figure 2 above shows the contents of the IPO diagram. As for input, the researchers split it into two parts: survey participants (SP)
and business owners (BO). They have their own conditions before proceeding with the process. If the SP and BO have successfully
verified, the SP will receive survey questionnaires and the BO will proceed to the interview process. The output expected for SP: (1) the
researchers should be able to know the level of their satisfaction with the service (Likert scale) and (2) how likely they are going to
promote it to their family, friends, and loved ones (Net Promoter Score). As for businesses, the researchers expect that they will fulfill the
website information. 7
Statement of the Problem
This study aims to answer the following specific problems such as:
1. What would be the level of satisfaction of the respondents (including Malabonians and food business
owners in Malabon) for having such a website using the Likert scale? (The website is not yet published)
2. What would be the level of satisfaction of the respondents (website visitors) for having such a website
using the Net Promoter Score? (The website is available to the public)
3. What are the possible monetization options for the website?
4. What will be the options to advertise this website to the users and businesses?
5. What web technology will be used?
6. What tools are to be used?
7. How much does it cost to have your own domain name and to buy a hosting plan?
8. How does the website satisfy its users?
• Reliability
• User-friendly Interface
• Accessibility
• Security

General Objectives of the Study
Objectives of the Study
The general objectives of this study are: (a) to measure the level of satisfaction of the
respondents for having such website; and (b) to create a free advertising website for food
businesses around Malabon.
Specific Objectives
The specific objectives are as follows: (a) to make survey questionnaires that would measure
the level of satisfaction of the respondents for having such a website in the future and
evaluate data using Likert scale. Also, the level of satisfaction (using Net Promoter Score) of
end users once the system publicize; (b) to make a community-based website (network) that
would aid small businesses to get advertised; and (c) to make a user-friendly website wherein
you can easily search a food product and the system will provide information about the store
you are looking for.

Significance of the Study
To food enthusiast
To those seeking great food eateries or restaurants in the beautiful city of Malabon; with a quick visit to the said website, they will stumble on
multiple selection of Food Eateries with full information on each one, like their background, what it's most popular of, and what are the food
selections, and the address plus pointers on how to get there.
To small businesses
The website could be a great asset to any starting food businesses; as they could build up their reputation by utilizing this website. Many
customers will visit their eatery since they are shown in the categorized search results. And quite possibly, they could attract many tourists who
crave new kinds of foods. With the website, small businesses that want to connect with us could have a great advantage over their competitors.
To the journalist
Food journalism is about today’s life, culture, and current events that we work on through the pens of food. It is characterized by directly
presenting an explanation of facts or events in the spirit of Merriam- Webster without attempting an interpretation. Relevant both locally and
globally, it is suitable for many media platforms. It will speed up knowledge about town foods.
To travelers/tourists
Food tourism consists of sports that offer studies of the use and appreciation of foods, offered in any way that values the history, culture and
environment of a selected region. Through this website, each organization will be more active in processing information.
To business analyst
Companies within the meals enterprise face complicated, demanding situations with authorities regulations, strict great manipulation and
customers developing needs. To be competitive, meals corporations paint with commercial enterprise analysts to make sure they deal with every
undertaking and make powerful commercial enterprise decisions.
To future researchers
Researchers may also benefit from the importance of this study. It can also serve as a bridge to accumulate facts and it can serve them as a
construction to have a larger study. This website provides information to the majority.
10
Scope and Limitation of the Project
This project aims to develop a free advertising website wherein a visitor can search for
food best spots within the vicinity of Malabon; with information on each selection. This
could be of great assistance to everyone who seeks mouthwatering food to the

Foreign Studies
According to the study conducted in Unilever in Nigeria PLC, customers are believed to be
unfamiliar with the product and services, but as soon as they learn about the benefits and
characteristics of the product and services, they are eager to check them out. If customers are
satisfied with the goods, they will buy and re-buy them, resulting in an increase in sales revenue.
There are a lot of options for advertising, however, the most common is social media. Based on
the study conducted by Manoj Timilsina, the acceptability rate of social media is steadily rising.
Social media is being used by many types of businesses as a critical tool for implementing
business and marketing strategies. The purpose of the study is to emphasize the effects of social
media in restaurants in Oulu. The major goal of this thesis is to look at the effects of social media
on business and how it influences company activity. Also, this study includes a quick overview of
social media and how it may be used for effective marketing. Furthermore, a comprehensive
explanation is provided to highlight how social media has altered traditional marketing practices.
Besides, when Mr. Tammira Lucas conducted a study, he stated that small business owners
understand the advantages of using social media as a marketing tool.

The purpose of his qualitative multiple case study was to explore social media marketing strategies used by five
small family-style restaurants in Maryland. Berry’s relationship marketing theory was the conceptual framework for
his study. Data collection included semi-structured interviews, documents pertaining to social media marketing
strategies, and social media pages and websites from the participating restaurants. These data were examined in
accordance with Yin’s five-step analysis approach. Key topics that emerged were (a) the most successful social
media platforms used by small family-style restaurant owners to enhance sales, (b) workers' responses to social
media marketing methods used by small family-style restaurant owners to promote sales, and (c) relationship
marketing. The implications for positive social change include the potential to increase the knowledge of future
entrepreneurs and show them how technology can help them launch and grow their businesses faster creating an
atmosphere of better customer service. However, Mr. Tamira said, small business owners who fail to implement
social media marketing strategies minimize the potential to gain new customers; thus, negatively impacting sales.
Inversely, when the corporation increases its advertising spending over the next 5 to 10 years, the consumer's
desire to buy goods and services will decrease related to rising competitive and rival products, as well as a shift in
customer preferences (Unilever in Nigeria PLC).

Local Studies
Just as important, there are local studies that present how marketing strategies, advertisements, and promotions affect sales growth. Firstly,
"The Marketing Strategies of Food Parks in Malabon and Navotas" by Mr. Ezekiel Jacob. The goal was to see how effective the 7Ps of food
parks were in Malabon and Navotas. The respondents from the survey, which included 350 people who dined and tried dining in any food
park in Malabon and Navotas, were assessed using the descriptive approach. The statistical treatment of the data acquired, counted, and
tabulated included frequency and percentage, Weighted-mean, T-test, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Even if females are slightly larger
than males in the survey, it is possible that both sexes have an active attitude when it comes to dining out and visiting food parks in
Malabon and Navotas. The 15-25-year-old age group is the primary market segment that food parks in Malabon and Navotas must cater to.
Despite having the lowest income level, P10,000-P15,000, it was the group with the highest frequency, with 158 out of 350 sampled
respondents (45.1%). According to the findings, private employees are the most frequent visitors to food parks in Malabon and Navotas. In
terms of civil status, the study's Single respondents outnumbered the Married respondents by 228 to 350. The study shows that popular
culture is not limited to large cities. or fine eating establishments, but also Navotas and Malabon. Food parks are not a new phenomenon in
emerging towns or provinces, but their presence has altered the market, bringing severe rivalry between quick-service restaurants and fine
dining restaurants. According to the results of the survey, the only P that is classified as "effective" is the product of food parks in Malabon
and Navotas. Other Ps including place, price, promotion, physical evidence, people, and process are only "slightly successful." This
conclusion points to a significant area of improvement that food park entrepreneurs should pursue. Food taste, food preparation quality, and
food ingredients are the only three aspects of a product that the poll considers "effective." Statistical tables show that evaluating the success
of marketing tactics based on occupation and residence is not dependent on chance because the findings reveal a substantial difference
between them.

Besides, the study about the impact of advertisements on the buying behavior of rural consumers in Laur, Nueva
Ecija, Philippines (Braza, et al… 2020) stated that the rural communities in the Philippines are still becoming
acquainted with modern cultures and media, despite high levels of modernization in urban areas. According to the
Philippine Statistics Authority, Filipinos aged 10 to 64 in urban areas typically watched television (97.3 percent) and
used social media to access the internet (82.5 percent). Rural areas, on the other hand, have the highest levels of
exposure to television (94.4%) and radio (74.7%), but the lowest levels of exposure to internet research and email
(52.3%). People in cities are more likely to consume both traditional and new media, such as television and the
internet. People in rural areas are most likely to use traditional media such as radio and television. However, as per
their findings, respondents believed that social media was the most successful advertising medium before television
commercials. The researchers were surprised to see that rural customers, like their urban counterparts, use social
media as their primary source of advertising. The popularity of online media usage among the younger demographic
sector indicates that they were exposed to advertisements, which supports the findings of Subbaiah and Sathish
(2017). It is believed that younger generations are more exposed to advanced technologies and are more prone to
switching from traditional media in favor of new and evolving online and digital marketing.

Lastly, the study conducted by Mina, J. C., & Campos, Jr, R. B. It was about the promotional mix and industry
practices of the leading fast–food industry in the Philippines. The study concluded that certain fast-food chain
restaurants used the same type of advertisement to promote their products. Direct selling, sales promotion,
advertising, and public relations or publicity were also discovered to be some of their existing promotional practices
by the researchers. According to the study's findings, fast-food chain restaurants should experiment with different
advertising strategies in order to attract more customers. Furthermore, fast-food chain restaurants should serve the
same types of items in order to attract more loyal customers while remaining distinguishably different from one
another in order to place more advertising across various modes of communication. In exchange, the researchers
recommend that they continue to innovate their product lines by incorporating features that will appeal to the
middle-income community, particularly students, as clients. Similarly, it is suggested that these fast-food chain
restaurants hold effective sales meetings and launch incentive programs for their salespeople in order to solve
problems that managers are experiencing with promotional practices. Managers should conduct inventory control
and initiate audits on a regular basis to determine which combo meals are the most marketable. Finally, the
researchers advise that the proposed strategic solutions be implemented in order to solve the store's problems.

Method
The Web Semantic Design Method (WSDM) is a method for designing websites that makes use of
fashions to paint the informational, useful, and implemented systems of the website in detail. As
an outstanding deal of websites are setting forth a similar sort of usefulness and information, a ton
of those informational, useful and theoretical fashions are being repeated for unique endeavors
and unique projects (Sandeep et al… 2017).
Static website
The design has become a significant component in engaging consumers of websites and mobile
applications. Navigation, graphical representation, organization, content usefulness, purpose,
simplicity, and readability were the most often stated design features (Garret et al… 2016). Static
websites are the way to go for marketing and sales websites. It is also known as flat pages or
stationary pages because they are made up of unchanging items with fixed content that are placed
on web pages. Since the contents of static pages do not change frequently, the user does not need
to update the web page frequently in the name of a quality check or maintenance activity.
However, according to Cassels (2022), there is no such thing as a static website. Static websites
do require maintenance, but it's maintenance that's very easy to outsource these days. The GitHub
pages, S3/CloudFront, and many other providers will take your static files and maintain a web
server to serve them either for a very small fee or for free as a loss leader for their other services.

Color, it is commonly assumed, informs our eyes where to look and how to interpret what they see. Color not only
draws attention, influences moods, and clarifies and highlights elements of the environment, but it also has an effect
on a participant's short-term memory. Besides that, color contextualizes what we see and helps us decide what is
important and what is not. Color is also important in marketing because it influences the creation of the brand image.
Furthermore, when people were trying to manipulate perceptions, they thought colors ideologically compatible with
those impressions were more appropriate. Consistent use of print color can help to maintain commercial value by
serving as an effective retrieval signal for meaning, which may influence purchase repetition. According to one study,
colors influence 90% of instantaneous consumer decisions, and 80% of them believe that color increases brand
awareness. Similarly, for many years, most advertisers believed that color influenced the success of a campaign and,
inevitably, the demand for the products displayed. Graphic design professionals refer to an "emotion guide" by
searching for patterns of color use and acceptance on the internet. According to this guide, there is a correlation
between the colors and the impressions (or feelings) they convey ( Halkiopoulos et al… 2021). According to
the section of this article entitled: Colors and logos of companies and products (in this section they emphasize the
meaning behind each color and how the neurophysiology interprets it and what product logo should the color be used).
Red is the most widely used color in product identification in the field. It evokes a sense of urgency, which increases
sales. It increases one's appetite for food (which is why it is often used by fast-food chains). It stimulates the nervous
system, causes an increase in blood pressure and heart rate, and increases mobility, excitement, and passion. Green
is a color that can be used in a variety of ways. It is believed to be warm and welcoming, and it elicits pleasant
emotions. It is used in stores to relax customers and raise awareness of environmental issues. Green stimulates the
brain's sense of balance, which leads to perseverance. Blue evokes a sense of security and confidence, which is why
banks, social networks, and businesses frequently use it. Purple is the ideal color for giving companies and products
prestige and elegance. It is all about problem solving, calm, and creativity.

Performance
Speeding up a website is not an easy thing to do. You should be considering numerous approaches to attain great results.
According to Yahoo!, the use of an expired header in the far future affects page views only after a user has
already visited your webpage. When a person sees your site for the first time and the browser's cache is
empty, it has no influence on the number of HTTP requests. As a result, the impact of this performance boost is
determined by how frequently users visit your pages with a primed cache. (A "primed cache" already contains all of the
page's components.) Yahoo! measured this and discovered that the number of page views with a primed cache is 75 to 85
percent. By using a far future expires header, you can increase the number of components that the browser caches and
reuses on following page views without sending a single byte over the user's internet connection. Furthermore, the
loading strategy of a website affects the performance too. According to the study conducted by Saswadkar (2021), there
are two types of loading strategies; lazy loading and eager loading. Lazy loading, also known as on-demand loading,
is a technique used in web and application development to optimize a website or online content. The process
does not initially load all of the site content, but only the most important ones. It improves website performance
by loading the most important content first and delaying the rest of the page content. The remaining content is loaded
only when the user asks for it. The browser only loads a subset of the content requested by the user. As a result, the time
it takes to load the website is reduced. While eager loading, the browser will load all of the site's images and other
content at once. The browser will cache all of the content. Websites with large content files, on the other hand, tend to
load slower using this method. Eager loading is used on pages with fewer images and more textual content. Wikipedia
pages, for example, use eager loading because their pages are mostly text with a few images. In addition to the image
loading problem, the CSS sprites are part of a bigger solution to that. The CSS Sprites are a collection or set of image
files that have been combined into a single file that can be accessed by an HTML document. These images are
then used within the HTML code to display on the website. A web page with many images can take a long time to load and
generate numerous server requests. The primary advantage of using image sprite is that it reduces the number of HTTP
requests, which speeds up the heap time of the website. The images also load faster, making it easier to switch from one
image to the next. CSS sprites provide the following advantages: they reduce the number of HTTP requests, overall
picture size, loading time, and versatility. CSS sprites have the following disadvantages: longer creation time, longer
maintenance time, and fewer SEO-friendly (GeeksforGeeks). 23

Website hosting and buying a domain
To publish a website, a user should find a web hosting that is suitable for a traffic load and an identifying name for a web.
According to Domantas (2022), web hosting is a service that makes websites available across the internet. When you
purchase a hosting package, you are renting space on a real server to store all of your data. On the other hand, a web
domain name, in particular, is a replacement for the Internet Protocol (IP) address. For example, we may replace
[Link] with a domain name like [Link] (Beckert, 2021).

Methodology and Technical Background
Research Design
Since this study will provide a practical solution to the current societal problem (there
is no free advertising website here in Malabon), the researchers will use applied
research to accomplish this study. Specifically, the action research.
As for gathering information, the researchers will use two methods: the interview
process and the dissemination of survey questionnaires using Google forms.
As for participants, the researchers will randomly select them in a sample size (with
the use of the Lynch formula and 30% of it will be utilized as instructed by the
professor) from a population set (Malabon population). However, participants are
divided into two categories: Malabonians and food businesses. The same formula will
be used, however, food businesses will have their own population set.
After the data were collected, the researchers will analyze those using the Likert scale,
net promoter score (NPS), and central tendency (including mean, median, and mode).

Methodology and Technical Background
Local of the Study
The study will take place in the Malabon City area. And, the proponents plan to distribute the survey
questionnaires to Malabonians and local small food businesses. Malabon City has 21 barangays divided
into 1,571.40 hectares with a population of 365,525 people (Malabon City Annual Report, 2019). This
location was chosen by the proponents to provide them with the most accurate information.
Research Instruments
The researcher will be using qualitative and quantitative approaches to statistically measure the
gathered data collected through questionnaires and surveys. Afterward, they generalized it to
incorporate a group of individuals (Babbie, 2010).
As for survey questionnaires, the researcher-made questionnaires are created via Google forms and
intend to use a Likert scale. To give Malabonians respondents answer options ranging from one to five.
For them to easily identify what is suitable for their responses (QuestionPro, 2022). The researchers
will also use the Net Promoter Score to know customer satisfaction and to predict future visitor growth.
It has zero to ten scale options.

Methodology and Technical Background
Data Case Analysis
To acquire information for the planned system's assessment, the proponents used a survey questionnaire. The mean
formula was used to get the average degree of satisfaction, and the standard deviation was utilized to assess the variance.
The survey form was analyzed using a 5 - point Likert Scale. A Likert scale is a rating scale used to evaluate and assess
views, attitudes, or actions. It is commonly used in survey research because it quickly operationalizes personality
characteristics or perceptions. The following are the weights assigned to the 5 - point Likert scale method.

Agile Model
The proponents used an Agile method in finding the solution to the problem in the advertising platform of Malabon city’s food
businesses.
31
Methodology and Technical Background
The Agile approach was commonly used in software engineering for the success of the project. The use of the agile
approach in the process of developing the website is divided into separate phases sequentially.
Requirement Analysis
The researchers will acquire information regarding the Food business's brief background, system, and operation. They
conducted interviews with food industry owners and discovered relevant information on the internet that may support their
findings.
System Design
During this phase, proponents collaborate to come up with a solution that will meet the study's objectives.
Implementation
During this phase, coding will take place. Proponents gather all of the material required for the technical implementation
of the website, as well as any additional references that might serve as a guide.
Testing
In this phase, the new advertising platform will be tested; faults must be reported and recorded; and possible reevaluation
and return to phase one may be required.
Deployment
In this phase the Advertising Platform has been completed, As a result, everything is ready, and any food business may
contact the supporters to incorporate their brand into the platform.
Maintenance
Food businesses are using the new advertising platform. If a problem or difficulties develop, the proponents must
update the system and contact the firm. Returning to phase one may cause major problems.
