What does the first advertisement tell
us?
Is it written for the purpose of
informing?
What does the advertisement want
the reader to do?
An advertisement is a written or
printed notice intended to make
something known to the public;
especially a printed notice in a
newspaper or other print media.
A propaganda is the spreading of a
belief, opinion, or action considered
wholesome by a particular group. It
can also be the spreading of
teachings and beliefs as an effort to
give truth
and information that is partly or
wholly untrue. Most advertisers use a
propaganda to make their products
attractive.
Common ways or means of
propaganda:
1. Bandwagon
People are urged to use a product
or join an activity everyone else is
doing. The propagandist appeals to
our
desire to be like the rest and builds on our
fear of being different from others.
2. Plain Folks
A technique where consumers are
encouraged to use a product because it is
what “folks at home” are using.
3. Testimonial
It is a technique where a product is
endorsed by a well-known personality to
make it acceptable.
