Chapter 1- Conceptual/Theoretical Framework
INDICATOR MINIMUM NUMBER
OF PAGE/S
Identify and discuss the variables/theories included in
the study 3
Theoretical Framework discusses the theories and/or
concepts which are useful in conceptualizing the
research. This part may be omitted if theories are not
available.
Conceptual Framework identifies and discusses the
variables related to the problem. A Schematic diagram
of the research (Paradigm of the Study) is presented
including the discussion of the relationships of the
different element/variables involved in the study

Chapter 1- Statement of the Problem
INDICATOR MINIMUM NUMBER
OF PAGE/S
This part presents the statement of the main problem usually in
declarative form. The main problem generally reflects the title of the 1
research and its objectives. It should reflect relationships/
differences between and among variables.
This part also includes the sub-problems or the research questions
that are to be answered specifically . These are stated as questions.
The essential characteristics of a research question is that there
should be some information that can be collected in an attempt to
answer it. Moreover, the sub-problems should be arranged in a
logical order from actual to analytical following the flow in the
research paradigm.
The characteristics of a good research question should be noted; it
should be feasible, clear, significant and ethical(Fraenkel and Wallen,
2010).
Chapter 1- Hypothesis
INDICATOR MINIMUM NUMBER
OF PAGE/S
Presents when comparison of measurable data or test for
relationships is part of the subject of the Dissertation 1
The part states tentative answers to research questions. The
hypothesis should be measurable and desirable, expressing
expected relationship between among two or more variables. It
should be based on the theory and/or empirical evidence. It is a
prediction of some sort regarding the possible outcomes of a study.
A hypothesis in statistical form has the following characteristic:
a) It is used when the tests of significant of relationships and
differences of measures are involved; and,
b) The level of significance /confidence is stated.
Chapter 1- Significance of the Study
INDICATOR MINIMUM NUMBER
OF PAGE/S
Presents how the findings of the research is
beneficial to the respondents and to the other
1
stakeholders.
Minimum of 3 sentences.
Arrange from macro to micro, starting with the
Dept. of Education (connect it with the mission,
vision of the Dept. and Sulong Edukalidad)
Chapter 1- Definition of Terms
INDICATOR MINIMUM NUMBER
OF PAGE/S
This part defines the important terms taken from the title and
statement of the problem. The terms should be arranged 2
alphabetically and defined in two common ways the dictionary-type
definitions and the operational definitions. The latter is preferred.
It should define the terms according to how it was used in the
study with hanging indent
The following format is adopted
Term1. The definition of term1 stated in sentence format.
Term2. The definition of term2 stated in sentence format.
Chapter 2
REVIEW OF LITERATURES AND
STUDIES
Contains citations from previous literatures and studies
It is arranged and synthesized thematically to conform to the specific
problems. It synthesizes evidences from all the literatures reviewed
to get an overall understanding of the state of knowledge in the
research problem.
Literatures uses 10-year reference while studies uses 5-year
reference period
Thematic approach, minimum of 5 reviews for each of the variables
Organize review per questions to have ease of cross-references
Chapter 3

subjects of the study.
Include discussions on the population and
sample where applicable including how the
participants of the study were selected
At least division-wide participants
Chapter 3- Instrumentation and Data
Collection
INDICATOR MINIMUM NUMBER
OF PAGE/S
Uses the STATE-DEFINE-JUSTIFY rule
describe the instrument, what is measured, how it was 7
interpreted and to whom and how it was administered (across Chapter 3)
mention the type of instruments used including the rating
scales, schedule when the dissertation is conducted, tally
sheets, performance checklists and others
include a discussion on the test conducted to ensure the
validity and reliability of the data collection instrument
Chapter 3- Tools for Data Analysis
INDICATOR MINIMUM NUMBER
OF PAGE/S
Uses the STATE-DEFINE-JUSTIFY rule
present the statistical tools or the treatment
7
employed in the analysis and interpretation of (across Chapter 3)
the collected data
describe the tools used for data analysis for
each of the problems
numerical and descriptive values to interpret
data is determined and justified
Chapter 4
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Arranged based from the Statement of the Problem. The number of subsections on Chapter 4 therefore is
based from the number of SOPs. Convert the interrogative question on the SOP to declarative form.
Use the PRESENT-SHOW-DISCUSS format for quantitative researches in the presentation of the findings.
PRESENT- introduce the table/figure eg. Figure 7 shows the….
SHOW- show the actual figure/table
DISCUSS- include implications. Avoid table reading. For studies involving correlation, it’s presence,
whether positive or negative, and the level of significance should be indicated. The acceptance or rejection
of hypothesis should also be stated. The interconnection between and among data should be established.
Indicators, whether hypothesis is supported or not by the findings, should be checked .Cross-reference
should be made- present findings linked with previous literatures/studies. The student-researchers parallel
observations with contemporary events presented in the introduction. Further, implications from the results
must be drawn.
For qualitative researches, present the gathered data, then discuss.
Chapter 4
Example:
Given the following SOPs:
1 . What is the performance of the Grade 5 pupils before and after the use of graphic organizers?
2 . Is there a significant difference between the performance of the Grade 5 pupils before and after the
use of graphic organizers?
Sub-sections in Chapter 3 will be:
Performance of the Grade 5 pupils Before and After the Use of Graphic Organizers (for SOP number 1)
<DISCUSSIONS>
Difference Between the Performance of the Grade 5 pupils Before and After the Use of Graphic
Organizers (for SOP number 2)
< DISCUSSIONS >
Chapter 4
The PRESENT-SHOW-DISCUSS is followed in the presentation of tables/figures/plates.
Example:
Performance of the Grade 5 pupils Before and After the Use of Graphic Organizers
<PRESENT the figure> Figure 1 presents the test scores of the Grade 5 pupils
before the use of graphic organizers.
<SHOW the figure>
<FIGURE TITLE>(in the case of tables, the TABLE TITLE is placed above the table)
<DISCUSS and analyze the contents of the figure (for tables, avoid table
reading)> < include at least 4 cross-references>
