Law Enforcement National Data Exchange (N-DEx)
N-DEx
Incident-or-event based information sharing system for local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies. Designed to securely collect and process crime data in support of investigations, crime analyses, law enforcement administration, strategic/tactical operations, national security responsibilities, and the national UCR program. Will provide optimal strategic, operational, and tactical information sharing of critical law enforcement data that can provide agencies the cutting edge tools to connect the dots between unrelated data without information overload.

Interoperability DOS/DHS/DoD
Interoperability DHS
Interim Data Sharing Model (iDSM) deployed 9/3/2006 Provides reciprocal exchange of biometric datasets between IDENT and IAFIS in near real time Datasets included IAFIS Want and Warrant Records (DOJ) IDENT Expedited Removals (DHS) Category 1 Visa Critical Refusals (DOS) Addition of Known or Suspected Terrorists (KSTs) anticipated by 8/7/2007 Pilot agencies: Boston Police Department on-line 9/3/2006 Dallas County (TX) Sheriffs Office on-line 11/1/2006 Office of Personnel Management (OPM) on-line 12/1/2006 Harris County, (TX) Sheriffs Office on-line 2/1/2007 Department of Defense (DoD) on-line 4/3/2007 iDSM Results through 7/27/2007 - 190 Positive Identifications Immigration Violator File (IVF) Enhancement for iDSM participants implemented 3/11/07 Contains name-based records of subjects that are a high enforcement priority for the ICE Three Categories Deported Felon Absconder National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS) 95 Positive Identifications linked to IVF
Interoperability DOS
Department of State-FBI Ten-print Pilot deployed 10/30/2006
100% of Visa applicants at limited, high-priority consulate sites
Previously only searched against IAFIS with a name-based hit occurred against the III extract in the DOS Class system.
Collect tenprints in standard FBI format for tenprint submissions to IAFIS Tenprint submissions are transmitted by telecommunication lines currently used for DOS submissions. Participating Consulate Offices:
Asuncion, Paraguay Dhahran, Saudi Arabia Islamabad, Pakistan London, England Riyadh, Saudi Arabia San Salvador, El Salvador Kabul, Afghanistan Ankara, Turkey Istanbul, Turkey Jakarta, Indonesia Manila, Philippines Tashkent, Uzbekistan 268,991 submissions 13 positive identifications hit upon an active want/warrant in IAFIS 2,119 Biometrically-based positive identifications 1,335 submissions used a name other than the IAFIS Master Name 74 submissions claimed U.S. Citizenship on the IAFIS Master
Statistics as of 7/26/2007
Interoperability DoD
DoD has electronically submitted 93K fingerprint background check inquiries to IAFIS resulting in 159 identifications. In addition to these inquiries, DoD has also shared more than 565K identification records. Of these records, IAFIS has processed and retained more than 136K resulting in 1,374 identifications. Automated sharing of KST records with DHS is accomplished via submission to IAFIS.
