Report Summary
ANXIETY AND ITS AWARENESS
PROJECT REPORT
Abstract:
Background: Anxiety is our natural protecting system that turns on automatically whenever
we perceive danger. It fires off an alarm system called the fight-flight-freeze response. This
alarm system is designed to protect us. For example, the jolt of adrenaline may provide the
energy to rescue a child in danger or to defend oneself. However, when the alarm system
doesn’t turn off, because a person continues to perceive risk or threat (consciously or
subconsciously) there is anxiety.
Method: This study used a mixed research approach of survey and interview schedule.
Results: All the interviewees had some knowledge about Anxiety and most of them had
negative memories regarding the incidents that had impacted them mentally. They found this
interview to be an eye–opener.
Conclusion: The study discusses about the Anxiety & the issues that are caused because of
the negative impact & also creates awareness about it.
Introduction:
Anxiety is a state of distress or uneasiness of the mind caused by fear of danger or
misfortune. Many individual struggle with anxiety and if we talk about the present situation
of our country then out of 197 million population 40 million people are suffering from
anxiety. It is such a feeling that never leaves you, it is just like the shadow which never
abandons you whether you are in a crowded place or alone in your room.
An anxious person feels that as if he is lost in a desert where he doesn’t even have the
instruments which would lead him the way out of it.
They are always indulged in a mental war where there is darkness everywhere and just a little
spark of mental peace means a lot.
The motive behind choosing this topic and working on it was to know people’s thoughts and
views about Anxiety and how much they are aware about their own anxiety level. This
interview based project made people think about their own anxiety related problems and also
open up about the various incidents that had a negative impact on the anxiety level in their
lives.
Anxiety and its Awareness:
During the Pandemic days, everyone is spending more and more of their time in their houses.
The loneliness and boredom is causing people to go through anxiety and frustration.
It keeps on disrupting a person’s life by impacting their relationship with others, self
confidence and ability to complete daily tasks at work or school.
To escape from such a situation, people should get aware about anxiety and its causes.
There are certain ways to do this:
1. Share your story and experience.
2. Do proper research on this topic and tell it to people.
3. Volunteer for anxiety and mental disorder related campaigns
4. Encourage other people suffering from anxiety to participate in such activities or
campaigns.
5. Highlight symptoms and signs of an anxious person in your neighborhood and to your
family members.
Anxiety awareness is not only key for your better mental and physical health but also
protect or help those people who might suffer from this in future. It also develops and
strengthens your social bond and influence.

Conclusion drawn
Through this survey I came across various thoughts of people around
me. Each and every individual has different meaning for anxiety. For
some it’s a mental illness while for some it is day to day life struggles,
etc. This survey made me realize 70–75% of students are suffering
from anxiety somewhere inside them who need extra care from their
family and friends. This survey helped me as well as many people to
think about this important topic which is mostly ignored by people of
all ages.

Group reflection
1) What were some of the most interesting discoveries I made while
working on this project? About the problem? About myself? About others?
Answer: The most interesting discovery I made while working on this
project was that I got to know about various new things regarding the topic
‘Anxiety' and learnt new ways how to deal with it. This had proven to be
very helpful as in future, if I come across an individual suffering from these
issues, I can guide them in the right way so that they can overcome it.
2) What were some of my most challenging moments and what made them
so?
Answer: The moment that I thought was the most challenging for me was
collecting data for the Project Report. It was a little difficult to gather data
and statistics that accurately showed the Anxiety status in India as most of
the sites provided information about UK and USA.
3) What were some of my most powerful learning moments and what
made them so?
Answer: Some of my most powerful learning moments was when I
was working on this project I also came to know about my own mental
status and also came across various methods on how to reduce anxiety
which will surely help me in the future.
4) What is the most important thing I learned personally?
Answer: The most important thing that I learnt personally is that not
all incidents have a negative impact in our lives. Some incidents leave
a good impact. It depends on the individual whether they take the
situation in a negative way and let it affect their health or take that
particular situation as a challenge and overcome it.
