Basic Commands

CUSTOMS AND COURTESIES


Objectives:
 To learn and apply the proper way of salute.
 To know the basic principles of commands.
 To know the different basic commands, and;
 To recognize the custom and courtesies.
The SALUTE
-the most important and the most common form of
all the military courtesies.
Basic Principles in Basic Command:

 It has two parts:


1. Preparatory command – command for preparation.
2. Command of execution – execution/action of the
command.
The basic commands:
 The Formation – “aspirant/class form” – done within 10 sec with the
response of “tion” after.
 Tion – (short term for attention) – come to attention/ position of
attention.
 As you were – to repeat the current command/the execution.
 Human-Da – Filipino term for attention.
 Tikas-Nga – comfort position of the position of attention.
 Paluwag – command with the response of “salamat po”.
The Facing
 Harap sa likod- Rap – facing to the back
 Harap sa kaliwa- Rap – facing to the left
 Harap sa Kanan- Rap – facing to the right
MARCHING
 Patakda- Na – march in place (high knees)
 Pulotong- To – command for finishing the march
 Pasulong- Kad – marching forward (normal walk- start w/ left foot)
 Liko sa kaliwa- Kad – marching turning to left (high knees)
 Liko sa Kanan- Kad – marching turning to right (high knees)
 Pihit pa Kanan- Kad – marching turning to right (normal walk)
 Pihit pa Kaliwa- Kad – marching turning to left (normal walk)
Military Courtesies
 Request permission: (*start with maam/sir and will end in maam/sir)
1. Request permission to make statement – requesting to say something
2. Request permission to join the platoon/ranks – requesting to join
3. Request permission to pull out – emergency exit but needs to be back
4. Request permission to leave – requesting to go home
 Reporting:
 Sir/Maam Cadet aspirant _____, reporting Sir/maam
 buddy buddy system
1. Buddy – same gender
2. Batch – opposite gender
3. Batch – both gender/ referring to all
