We use (not)as……as to compare two


people or things.
THE USAGE OF AS…..AS IN ENGLISH AND TURKISH

ENGLISH TURKISH
We use (not) as…….as to compare two people or things.

As……..as means equally……


Note:An adjective comes between (not) as and as.

Examples:1-Sharon Stone is [Link] Cruise is 1.70 cm.,too.


-Sharone Stone is as tall as Tom.

2-Jane is 17 years old. Her cousin ,tom is 17 years old,too..


-Jane is as old as her cousin,Tom.

3-Yesterday was 10 [Link] is 10 C.


-Today is as cold as yesterday.
EXAMPLES=

-Jane is as cute as Mary.


-Michael is as brave as Jack.
NOT AS…….AS
-Not as ……as means less…..than

English Turkish
Examples=

1-Brad Pitt was born in [Link] Law was born in 1972.


-Jude Law is not as old as Brad Pitt.

2-Mercedes GLC İS $65000.BMWX1 is $50000.


-BMWX1 isn’t as expensive as Mercedes GLC.
EXERCİSE 1=
Write sentences with as…..as and the adjective in brackets.
1-I am very [Link] are very busy too.(busy)

2-The Ferrari and the Lamborghini both have a top speed of 300 km/h.(fast)

3-Hadise and Murat Boz both have three million fans.(popular)

4-My father was born in [Link] mother was born in 1973,too.(old)

5-Can and Ayça both get top marks in the exams. (hard-working)

1-I am as busy as you.
2-The Ferrari is as expensive as Lamborghini.
