INDIAN SPACE

SAGA

PRESENTED BY SHIVANK PANDEY

CLASS- VII A
DPS, VINDHYANAGAR
INTRODUCTION
In 1972, Space Commission was established. In 1975, India launched its first
satellite, Aryabhata and thus entered the space age. Over the last four and
half decades, the Indian Space programme has made an impressive progress.
TWO SUPERHEROS OF INDIAN SPACE
PROGRAMME
1. Vikram Sarabhai
Vikram Sarabhai, born on 12 August, 1919,
Ahmadabad, India was an Indian physicist and
industrialist who initiated space research and
helped develop nuclear power in India. He is also
known as Father of Indian space program.
TWO SUPERHEROS OF INDIAN SPACE
PROGRAMME
1. Dr. Homi J. Bhabha
Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha born on 30 October,1909
in Mumbai was an Indian physicist who was the
principal architect of that country’s nuclear energy
 program.
OBJECTIVES OF ISRO
1. REMOTE SENSING
2. METEOROLOGY
3. TELECOMMUNICATION
ISRO- INDIAN SPACE RESEARCH
ORGANISATION
The Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) was set-
up by our first Prime Minister, Shri. Jawaharlal Nehru in the year 1962.
Later this INCOSPAR, was setup at Ahmedabad in the year 1969 as V.
Sarabhai as its director. This INCOSPAR is now known as ISRO.
MAJOR OPERATIONAL SYSTEMS HAVE
BEEN ESTABILISHED
1. INSAT- INDIAN NATIONAL SATELLITE SYSTEM
INSAT is a series of multipurpose geostationary satellites
launched by ISRO, used for telecommunication, broadcasting
and meteorological services.
2. IRS- INDIAN REMOTE SENSING SYSTEM
IRS is a series of multipurpose geostationary satellites launched
by ISRO, used for monitoring and management of natural
resources and disaster management.
SATELLITE LAUNCHING VEHICLES
1. SLV( SATELLITE LAUNCH VEHICLE)
It is a 4-staged solid light propellant launcher which can carry a payload of 40
kgs.

2. ASLV( AUGUMENTED SATELLITE LAUNCH VEHICLE)

It is 5-stage solid light propellant launcher which can carry a payload of 150
kgs.

BUT NOWADAYS, SLV AND ASLV ARE NOT USED TODAY FOR
SATELLITE LAUNCHING.
SATELLITE LAUNCHING VEHICLES
3. PSLV- POLAR SATELLITE LAUNCH VEHICLE
It is 4-stage solid light propellant launcher which can carry a
payload of 1750 kgs.
4. GSLV- GEOSYNCHRONOUS SATELLITE LAUNCH
VEHICLE
It is 3-stage solid light propellant launcher which can carry a
payload of 2500 kgs.
TWO MAJOR ISRO’s SPACE
CENTRES
1. VIKRAM SARABHAI SPACE CENTRE (VSSC)
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM (KERALA)
It is responsible for design and development of launch vehicle
technology.
2. SATISH DHAWAN SPACE CENTRE (SDSC)
SRIHARIKOTA (ANDHRA PRADESH)
It is responsible for launch base technology. It is also known as
Space Port of India.
FUTURE SPACE MISSION
GAGANYAAN
Gaganyaan is a mission by the Indian Space
Research Organization (ISRO) to send a three-
member crew to space for a period of five to
seven days by 2022. The space mission was first
announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in
2018. The Gaganyaan mission could propel
India to the centre of space exploration.   INDIA’S FIRST MANNED
MISSION TO SPACE
FUTURE SPACE MISSION
ADITYA L-1
Aditya-L1 Mission is India’s first solar mission
planned by the Indian Space Research
Organization (ISRO).The objective of Aditya L1
mission is to study Sun’s Corona, Chromosphere
and Photosphere. In addition, it will study the
particle flux emanating from Sun, and the
variation of magnetic field strength.
FUTURE SPACE MISSION
NISAR
NISAR is the world’s most expensive Earth-imaging
satellite. Being a combined US-India satellite, the
mission becomes even more important as it is
scheduled to launched from India.
The main objective of this research is to make global
measurements of the causes and consequences of land
surface changes. NISAR will launch in the year 2023.
FUTURE SPACE MISSION
SHUKRAYAAN-1
Shukrayaan-1 is a proposed orbiter to Venus
by the Indian Space Research Organization
(ISRO) to study the surface and atmosphere
of Venus. SHUKRAYAAN -1 will launch in
the year 2024.
