The Axiology of Education "What Is Education FOR?"

The document discusses the axiology (values) of education. It proposes that education has three main functions or domains: transmission of knowledge, social functions like cultural practices, and subjectification where students develop their own agency and responsibility. It also discusses how axiology provides direction to education systems by projecting values and preserving cultural identity. For the national education system in Indonesia specifically, the document states that its axiological foundation is based on Pancasila, Indonesia's philosophical foundation consisting of values that are fundamental, absolute and reflect the core teachings of religions. This then implies that education in Indonesia should encourage values like religiousness, humanity, nationalism, democracy and social justice.

Education and acquisition bound up with -knowledge,
(functions)
skill and disposition- used for self-actualization.

Social function engages social activities:

presentation, communication, initiation of tradition practices, ways of doing

human person in which students position as the subject of
action and responsibility.
Aristotle “education is the creation of sound mind and
sound body. It develops man’s faculty specially his mind so
that he may be able to enjoy the contemplation of supreme
truth, goodness and beauty.”
Thus, education does
not only deal with
gaining and sharing
knowledge,
developing
relationship and
having motivation to

for determined community. Education preserves and transmits value
that guarantee the cultural identity of human community.
• The performance of value requires knowledge and experience meaning
the involvement in this process of education on its two interrelated
planes: cognitive and emotional.
• Axiology in the horizon of manifestation of human creativity. Education
has among its fundamental function that of cultivating the power of
individual and the human community. Though, personality is the
sources of value, it is not born but it is developed and education is one
way. (personality (source of value) is developed trough education.

Judgment : Praxeology of Education “How
education should be practiced”
 it Deals with how making education work better practically based on
the value in axiology.
Aristotle states that practices such as education occur in the domain of
“variable” not the domain of “eternal”.
Pramoedya Ananta T. “ Reality speaks louder than theory”
It concerns on
how we bind our professional knowledge with the situation that
probably changes –action and consequences-;
how we deals with the purposes of education including what
stuednts, teacher and education want to achieve; and
 the possible way how educational reaserch might inform, enhance
an practice.
Unfortunately, tragic phenomenon occur worldwide. How come ?

Just, think of...

How harmonious axiology,
educational system and
praxiology work along in
our country ???
