What is an ADJECTIVE?
An ADJECTIVE is a word that describes a noun or a pronoun such as a person, place,
thing, or idea

3 DEGREES OF
ADJECTIVES
POSITIVE DEGREE
Used to describe a person or thing without comparing it.
Example:
You are pretty.
The ruler is long.
Rain is a young girl.
COMPARATIVE DEGREE
Used to compare two persons or things.
We add –er to one-syllable adjective.
For example: prettier, happier, taller, smaller, younger, longer
More or less is used with adjectives having three or more syllables.
For example: less expensive, more beautiful, more difficult, more famous
However, with two-syllable adjectives, -er or the word more or less is used.
SUPERLATIVE DEGREE
Used to compare three or more persons or things.
We add –est to one-syllable adjective.
For example: prettiest, happiest, tallest, smallest, youngest, longest
Most or least is used with adjectives having three or more syllables.
For example: least expensive, most beautiful, most difficult, most famous
However, with two-syllable adjectives, -est or the word most is used.

We have special adjectives that does not use any of the rules mentioned earlier.
GOOD – BETTER – BEST
For example:

2. She is better than Angelica.
3. She is the best among the girls in the elementary school.
BAD – WORSE – WORST
4. James is a bad boy.
5. He is worse than his sister.
6. James is the worst among his siblings.
FAR – FURTHER – FURTHEST
7. Dandy’s house is far.
8. His house is further than Annie’s.
9. He has the furthest house.
