Abstract
In the present scenario, most of the road accidents are
occurring due to drunken-driving.
The drivers who drink alcohol are not in a stable condition
and so their rash driving causes accidents.
The main aim of our project is to design and implement an
Alcohol detection with engine locking system for vehicles to
avoid accidents.
Introduction
It works on a simple principle, when a driver consumes alcohol then
the breath analyser sensor will detect the level of alcohol in the driver’s
breath.
Now this information is given as input to the microcontroller and it
compares with the set-in limits.
If the alcohol consumed by the person exceeds the threshold value,
the system of activating relay is initiated which in turn activates the
automatic lock on the vehicle.
The system will lock the engine at the same time it gives a buzzer.
Even if a person consumes the alcohol after the start of engine, then
the sensor still detects the alcohol molecules in his breath and stops
the engine.

ALCOHOL SENSOR(MQ3)
SPECIFICATIONS:
Current consumption: 150mA
Operating temperature: -10°c to 70°c
Good sensitivity to ethyl alcohol
Operating voltage: 5v
Analog voltage: 0v to 5v
Digital output: 0v to 10v
Fast response and low cost
BUZZER:
Operating Voltage: 4-8V DC.
Sound Type: Continuous beep.
Resonant Frequency: ~2300Hz
Rated current: <30mA.
ADVANTAGES:
To prevent accidents due to drunk and driving.
Easy and efficient to test the alcohol content in the body.
Quick and accurate results.
It has low power consumption.
APPLICATIONS:
This project can be used in various vehicles to detect
whether the driver has consumed alcohol or not.
It can also be used in various companies or organizations
to detect alcohol consumption of employees.
CONCLUSION
Hence, by placing this system in the
vehicles we can ensure a safe and secure
journey there by decreasing the accident
rate.
The lifetime of the project is high and it has
zero maintenance.
