1950s – government focused on agriculture; projects on


agriculture plantation, rubber, commercial produce agriculture
- neglected rural economy; income and output are low
 poor traditional production techniques
 low income led to lower standard of welfare

1967 – rigorous effort to solve numerous problems especially to


expedite the implementation of dev’t programs

1970s – began to imitate four Asian Tiger Economies

to an economy that depends more on manufacturing

1980s – most important and crucial effort of gov’t; beginning of


modern country
- public is being encouraged by the gov’t to involve in
development administration (privatization and
corporation policy)
