CLASSIFICATION OF HADITH

• Two major classes of Hadith:

• Hadith al-Qudsi

• Hadith an-Nabawi
HADITH AL-QUDSI
• A Divine Hadith
• Direct Statement of Allah (SWT) told by the Prophet (SAW) into his own words
• Superior to all other Ahadith  top among sahih Ahadith
• Revealed to the Prophet (SAW) directly without angel Jibrail (AS)
• Not a part of the Holy Quran

• Examples:
Narrated by Abu Huraira (RA) that Prophet (SAW) said:
• Allah said” Spend on charity, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.”
• ‘My mercy prevails over my wrath”.

• Words and meaning are both from Allah • Words of Holy Prophet (SAW)

• Starts with “Allah says”


• Starts with “Prophet (SAW) said”
• Few in numbers less than1000
• They are over 100,000
• Topics regarding Man, God, relationship,
Hereafter, Tauhid and Worship
• They have wide range of topics
• They are only sayings.
• 1st transmitter is Holy Prophet SAW • They can be sayings and actions
• 1st transmitter is a companion
