Get external data
This group helps insert data into a worksheet from sources that are outside
the current workbook
Allows you to refresh your excel workbooks that are connected to an external
data source
This helps update the data that is in your current worksheet
You can get data from a variety of external data sources like: -
From Access
This option allows you to import data from MS Access
For this click on the ‘From Access’ option in the Data tab
This will open up a dialog box asking you to select an Access Database from
which you wish to get the table from
Click open
Pivot table
A pivot table is an important feature in MS Excel
A pivot table allows you to extract data of interest from a large, detailed
data set.
Importing Data from Access
On clicking open, a dialog box appears asking you where in the current
workbook you wish to place your data
You have the option to view this data as: -
Table: data arranged in rows & columns
PivotTable report: gives you the option to add the table column fields that
you wish to add to the report
