Types of Pollutions: Presented By-Partha Sarathee Bej 1801010005 Manisha Ratha 1801010006

The document outlines the four main types of pollution: air, water, noise, and land, detailing their causes, effects, and prevention methods. Air pollution results from fossil fuel burning and industrial activities, while water pollution stems from urbanization and industrial effluents. Noise pollution is characterized by disruptive sounds from traffic and construction, and land pollution is caused by waste disposal and industrial activities.

INTRDUCTION
An undesirable and unfavorable change in physical, chemical and biological
characteristics of land, air and water that harmfully affect both plant and animal
life including human. These harmful materials are called pollutants. Pollutants can
be natural and also created by human actions.

There are four types of pollution-

Water Noise Land
Air pollution

AIR POLLUTION
Air pollution is contamination of the indoor and outdoor environment by
any chemical, physical or biological agent that modifies the natural
characteristics of the atmosphere.

o Causes o Effects o Prevention

 Burning of Fossil Fuels  Avoid using Vehicles
 Diseases
 Automobiles  Energy Conservation
 Global Warming
 Agricultural Activities  Use of clean Energy
 Acid Rain
 Factories and Industries Resources
 Ozone layer depletion
 Mining Activities  (Ex- Solar, Wind and
 Effect on Animals
 Domestic Sources Geo-thermal Energies)
WATER
POLLUTION Water pollution can be defined as the contamination of water bodies. Water
pollution is caused when water bodies such as rivers, lakes, oceans, groundwater,
and aquifers get contaminated with industrial and agricultural effluents.

Causes Effects Prevention

• Urbanization. • Diseases like Malaria and • Rivers should not be used
• Deforestation. Typhoid for washing clothes or
• Industrial effluents. • Aquatic life gets bathing animals in.
• Social and Religious destroyed • Harvesting of Rainwater to
Practices. meet water requirement.
• Use of Detergents and • Dams & embankment must
Fertilizers. be created.
• Agricultural run-offs- Use of • The rivers must not be
 insecticides and pesticides contaminated.
NOISE POLLUTION
Noise pollution can be defined as any disturbing or unwanted noise that interferes
or harms humans or wildlife. Although noise constantly surrounds us, noise
pollution generally receives less attention than water quality and air quality issues
because it cannot be seen, tasted, or smelled.

LAND POLLUTION
Land pollution is a result of dumping garbage, waste, and other toxins making the
land contaminated or polluted. The source of land pollution comes from the
human element such littering, and waste that is washed ashore from boats, oil
rings, and sewage outlets.

Causes Effects Prevention

• Mining and Quarrying • Disruption in agriculture • Using fewer pesticides and
• Sewage Waste • Endangerment of species chemicals in agriculture.
• Household Garbage • Habitat shift and loss • Reforestation
• Industrial Waste • Dry area resulting in wildfire • Reduce, Reuse and Recycle things
