- Registered at the “Grand Hotel”.

Juan Perez Caballero
- Secretary of the
Spanish Legation.
- - Invited Rizal to
live at the Spanish
Legation.
- Became good
friend of Rizal.
Rizal accepted the invited in 2 reasons;
1.He could economize his living expenses
by studying at the Legation.
2.He had nothing to hide from the prying
eyes of the Spanish Authorities.
March 7, 1888
He checked out of Tokyo Hotel and
live at the Spanish Legation.

Rizal in Japan:
1. The beauty of the country.
2. The cleanliness, politeness, & industry of
the Japanese women.
3. The picturesque dress & simple charm of the
Japanese women.
4. There were very few thieves in Japan.
5. Beggars were rarely seen in the city.
One thing he did not like in Japan

Sayonara Japan
April 13, 1888
- He left Japan and boarded “Belgic”, an
English Steamer, at Yokohama bound for the US.
Rizal’s sojourn in Japan for 45 days. (Happiest
interludes in his life.)
O-Sei-San After Rizal’s Departure
- O-Sei-San moved for a long time the loss of
her love.
- About 1897 (a year after Rizal’s execution) –
She married Mr. Alfredo Charlton.
Yuriko – the name of their daughter.
November 2, 1915 – Mr. Alfredo Charlton died.
- Yoshiharu Takiguchi – son of Japanese
senator. The husband of Yuriko.
May 1, 1947 – O-Sei-San died at the age of 80.
– Buried in her husband’s tomb at
Zoshigawa Cemetery.
Voyage Across the Pacific
1890
- Tetcho elected as member of the lower house of the
First Imperial Diet (Japanese Parliament).
1891
- He published “Nankai-no-Daiharan” (Storm Over
The South Sea)
1894
- He published another novel, “O – Unabara” (The Big
Ocean). Which is similar to El Filibusterismo.
February 1896
- Tetcho died in Tokyo because of Heart attach
(10months before Rizal’s execution)
- He was then 49 yrs. Old.
