DEPRIVATION

Deprivation is defined as the state of not having something essential for well-being, such as parental love and care. Deprived children are identified as those who are homeless or orphaned, living in poor housing, abused, victims of trafficking, or in need of special attention or medical care. Types of deprivation include parental, mental, social, and emotional deprivation. Long-term deprivation negatively impacts children's development across different dimensions. Teachers, parents, and society can help prevent deprivation by paying attention to every child's needs, caring for those with special needs, and ensuring deprived children have housing, education, food, medical care, and emotional support.
