This study aims to determine the factors that cause juvenile delinquency through phenomenological research. Specifically, it will examine the thoughts, feelings, and experiences of juvenile delinquents before, during, and after committing crimes. The study will also look at any similarities or differences between their experiences before and after offenses. It will focus on cases in Dumangas, Iloilo City and involve interviews with two participants. The goal is to better understand juvenile delinquency and identify recommendations.

children have been in conflict with the law

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims to determine the factors causing children in conflict with the laws.
Specifically, this study aims to answer the following research questions:
1. What are the thoughts, feelings, perception, experiences of the juvenile delinquent
before, during and after they commit a crime?

2. What are the similarities and differences of their experience before and after they commit
a crime.
DEFINITION OF TERMS

■ Delinquency- crimes or other morally wrong acts: illegal or immoral behavior especially by young
people (Merriam-Webster Dictionary 2012).

■ In this study, “delinquency” means the crimes committed by the juvenile or the children ages 17 and
below.

■ Juvenile- relating to young people who have committed crimes (Merriam-Webster Dictionary 2012).

■ In this study, “juvenile” refers to the children below 18 who committed crimes and are in conflict
with the laws.

SUBJECTIVITY OF THE STATEMENT

We, the Political Science students, chose this topic for our research study
because we need to identify specifically the determining factors that affect
children to commit a crime and also in order for us to assess and briefly
know the things that considers children to do a crime. Being a Political
Science students we need to understand the factors that affects the children
to commit a crime and their experiences before and during and after the
incident. Additionally, this study will provide a more knowledge about
children in conflict with the law.
DELIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

This study will focus on the factors that causes juvenile


delinquency cases in Dumangas, Iloilo City.
