Different Cuts of Poultry
• Can you name a
cut of poultry that
comes from a
Chicken?
WHOLE CHICKEN

• Whole
Chickens are
marketed
either fresh or
frozen.
BREAST
• A breast
quarter with
the wing
removed.
WHOLE CHICKEN WINGS
• The whole chicken
wing is an all-white
meat portion
composed of three
sections; the
drumette, mid-
• section, and tip.
THIGH
• The thigh is the
portion of the
leg above the
knee joint.
WHOLE LEG WITH TIGH
• The whole chicken
leg is the drumstick-
thigh combination.
The whole leg differs
from the leg quarter
and does not contain
a portion of the back.
DRUMSTICKS
• Drumsticks include
the lower portion of
the leg quarter (the
portion between
the knee joint and
the hock).

poultry before cooking poultry dishes?
• Chicken is very popular both for its taste
and the enormous range of ways it can
be cooked ... The right cut is important,
but what matters even more is choosing
the right chicken. ... Thigh meat has a lot
of flavour, and is often
the cut recommended for curry or
oriental dishes.
ABSTRACTION:

APPLICATION
• The learners will be group into 4. Each
group will be cutting the picture of a whole
chicken into its part according to poultry
cuts and name it. Each group will present
their output to the class. The learner will
be given 2 minutes to finished the activity.
