Why Business in Dubai?
UAE’s Ideal Location for Solar
Energy Generation
The location of the United Arab
Emirates and Dubai within the sunbelt
highlights solar energy’s major role as a
renewable source of energy. In Dubai,
available global irradiation usable by
photovoltaic (PV) technology varies
between (2,105 - 2,164) kWh/m2a and
the direct part of the irradiation (DNI)
which is used by Concentrated Solar
Power (CSP) is between (1,856 - 2,069)
kWh/m2a. These figures mean solar
energy is optimum energy source for
Dubai.
Why Business in Dubai?
The advantages of doing Business in Dubai and in UAE are:
Leaders with Focus & Vision towards the future.
Well established Infrastructures i.e. Advanced Communication, Transport Facilities etc.
Duty-Free atmosphere. Dubai has various Free Zones like Dubai Airport Free Zone, Dubai
Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), Dubai Silicon Oasis
(DSO), Jebel Ali Free Zone, JLT Free Zone and Dubai World Central(DWC) Business Park to
name few.
Business friendly environment.
Easy Visa Formalities.
Totally Secure atmosphere.
Dubai is an ideal Entry Point for doing business in the Middle East Region.

Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030
The Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 (DIES) is deployed
in 2011 to set the strategic direction of Dubai towards securing
sustainable supply of energy and enhancing demand efficiency
of water, power and fuel.
Solar Business Opportunities in Dubai:
Dubai is making significant and steady progress in increasing
dependence on renewable and clean energy. A few weeks after
DEWA announced that it increased the share of renewable
energy targets in Dubai's energy mix to 7% by 2020 and 15% by
2030, and doubled the capacity of phase two of the Solar Park
from 100 to 200 MW, it has announced the 800MW third phase
of the Solar Park. The project which is based on IPP model, is
another achievement that will put Dubai and the UAE at the
forefront of the countries in the region in producing renewable
and clean energy.

Dubai’s first Solar Power Plant
DEWA is the proud owner of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Park which is the
largest operating solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in the Middle East and North Africa.
• Targeted Capacity by 2030: 3,000 MW
• Technology: Photovoltaic (PV) & Concentrated Solar Power Technologies (CSP)
on Later Stage. As this project is a long-term plan, new future technologies can
be implemented.
• This project will also have: Research & Development Center with Solar Test
Facility, Innovation Centre and University and Training Centre
• The project covers an area of 280,000 square meters with 7 phases.
• The First phase of the project with 13MW capacity has been commissioned last
October 2013. 152,880 thin film modules installed with 6 modules high by 14
modules width.
• The Second Phase with 200MW capacity is currently under construction where
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) signed a Power Purchase
Agreement and a Shareholder Agreement with Saudi Arabia’s ACWA and Spain’s
TSK. It is expected to be operational by April 2017.
• A new tender is expected to be announced by last quarter of the year for the
development of the third phase with a capacity of 800MW under Independent
Power Produce (IPP) model

Shams Dubai - Connecting Solar Energy to Houses and Buildings
The Shams Dubai initiative allows electricity customers to generate their own green
electricity with solar PV panels, also connecting them to the power distribution grid. Any
surplus not used on site can be exported to the grid, and offset from the customer
consumption under a net metering scheme.
• PV modules
• PV Inverters
• Interface protection equipment
• Consultants and Contractors
