Ijma

Ijma is the unanimous agreement of qualified jurists on issues of Islamic law. It has two types: express ijma, which is verbal agreement; and tacit ijma, which is agreement through silence. Ijma is formed by mujtahids, or qualified jurists, and establishes legal rulings through consensus on matters not directly addressed in the Quran or hadith. It helps interpret and apply sharia law to new issues and reinforce rulings from primary sources. Ijma serves as an authoritative source of Islamic law through the consensus of religious scholars.
