PICKLEBALL HITS:

SERVING
SERVING RULES:
-must be underhand
-hit below waist
-paddle face must be below wrist when you
hit the ball
-must serve to opposite box
-must serve from behind green line

HOW TO SERVE:
1. get “set” (ball on paddle)
2. paddle back
3. hit ball with middle of paddle
4. follow through to target
5. take a step with front foot as you hit
the ball
PICKLEBALL HITS:
WHAT IS IT?: LOB SHOT
-a shot that travels high and far (like a rainbow)

HOW TO PERFORM IT?


-Ready Position
-Turn, Side to Target
-Paddle Angle: Up
-Lift the Ball Low to High
-Follow Through: to opposite shoulder

WHEN TO USE IT?


-pushes your opponent back away
from the net
-gives you time to travel close to the net
-hard for your opponent to get a good
shot
-slows down the ball
PICKLEBALL HITS:
WHAT IS IT? DINK SHOT
-softer shot, should land near the net
in the non-volley zone

HOW TO PERFORM IT?


-Ready position
-Paddle Angle: up or towards net
-Follow Through: push the ball instead of swing
(no full follow through)

WHEN TO USE IT?


-if your opponents are far away from the net
-on the 3rd shot (so your opponent cannot
hit it out of the air)
PICKLEBALL HITS:
WHAT IS IT? DRIVE SHOT
-A drive shot is hit straight across the net
and should land somewhere in the middle
or back of the court
HOW TO PERFORM IT?
-Ready position
-Side to Target
-Paddle Angle: facing net
-Follow Through: straight across body

WHEN TO USE IT?


-pushes your opponent back
-attacks the middle of the court
-is a fast shot so it is hard to return
PICKLEBALL HITS:
WHAT IS IT? SMASH
-a hard shot that quickly goes at a downward
angle across the net

HOW TO PERFORM IT?


-Ready position
-Side to Target
-Contact the ball over your head
-Paddle Angle: down to ground
-Follow Through: snap your wrist,
follow through down to ground
WHEN TO USE IT?
-if your opponent hits the ball high and close
to the net
