Overview of Processes in PH#3
Auxiliary Power Consumption
In power plants part of energy generated by the
Plants is being consumed by different auxillaries.
The power consumption by these auxillaries is
very high due to poor operation or bad design of
the equipment.
Why is it necessary to save Auxiliary Power?
Auxiliary power reduction has a key role to sustain in the competitive power market.
A comprehensive approach towards reduction of energy consumption provides an
opportunity to remain competitive in power business.
The major advantages of reduction of energy consumption listed here.
Remain competitive- Higher in the merit order which helps in scheduling.
Positive impact in the bottom line of balance line of balance sheet.
Demand remaining constant, less CO emission.

3. Induced Draught (ID) Fan
[Link] Draught (FD) Fan
5. Auxiliary Oil Pump (AOP)
6. Condensdate Extraction Pump (CEP)
Study of Existing System
Variable Frequency Drives have been installed for ID and FD fans.
Oil system is installed for proper lubrication of control valves,
bearings and other mechanical components.
Waste heat is recovered to a great extent to improve cycle efficiency.
Study of Existing System
There were no leaks detected as such, resulting in a closed and compact
system.
Energy Management Software (EMS) – EMS enables us to analyse the power
consumption of various and drives on a day to day basis and monitor any
deviation in energy consumption pattern of plant.
Frequent change of filters are done to prevent any clogging which may lead tlo
pressure drop.
