POLLUTION CONTROL SYSTEM

Introduction…
•It’s the generosity of the nature that despite the excessive exploitation of it we still
remain alive. Air pollution one of the most rapidly increasing pollutions that is not only
affecting nature but is also affecting human life. we cannot eradicate it but we can
prevent it from increasing and contaminating in a specific area and cause disturbance
to the man kind as well as nature.
•Industrial areas are generally placed in the outskirts of the city and air pollution can
be reduced by planting trees all around but What about the city, where major
population of the city is present ..?
•In cities majority of the pollution comes from the vehicles .The number of vehicles in
the city area are increasing to a large extend so we can however reduce the pollution
from contaminating in a particular area . How can we do that ? Well we can divert the
traffic by rerouting when the pollution level in a particular area has increased above a
certain limit .Technology has advanced to a great extent, in this era it is possible to
develop any device and help the society for its development without any hurdles.
•Lets see in detail about the current scenario how can we improve it .
Role of Climate Change Department (CCD)

• Climate Change Department acts as a bridge within the Government, and

between the Government and the Society to address Climate Change.
• Gujarat is the first and only State in India, the first in Asia and fourth in the
world to form an independent department for Climate Change.
• Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA)works under the aegis of the
Climate Change Department to provide advice and guidance on research
and project development in the context of Climate Change
• CCD also promotes and encourage maximum utilization of Clean
Technologies to boost economy and to develop new technologies for
Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation.
What environment are we living in…?
(The current scenario)

•Air pollution occurs when harmful substances including particulates and biological
molecules are introduced into Earth's atmosphere. It may cause diseases, allergies or
death of humans; it may also cause harm to other living organisms such as animals and
food crops, and may damage the natural or built environment. Human activity and
natural processes can both generate air pollution.

•Indoor air pollution and poor urban air quality are listed as two of the world's
worst toxic pollution problems in the 2008 Blacksmith Institute World's Worst Polluted
Places report . According to the 2014 World Health Organisation report, air pollution
in 2012 caused the deaths of around 7 million people worldwide , an estimate roughly
echoed by one from the International Energy Agency.
•HEALTH
EFFECT
•Air pollution is a significant risk factor for a number of pollution-related diseases and
health conditions including respiratory infections, heart disease, COPD, stroke and lung
cancer . The health effects caused by air pollution may include difficulty in breathing,
wheezing, coughing, asthma and worsening of existing respiratory and cardiac
conditions. These effects can result in increased medication use, increased doctor or
emergency room visits, more hospital admissions and premature death. The human
health effects of poor air quality are far reaching, but principally affect the body's
respiratory system and the cardiovascular system. Individual reactions to air pollutants
depend on the type of pollutant a person is exposed to, the degree of exposure, and
the individual's health status and genetics. The most common sources of air pollution
include particulates, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and sulphur dioxide. Children aged less
than five years that live in developing countries are the most vulnerable population in
terms of total deaths attributable to indoor and outdoor air pollution
What we breathe when we drive…?

Road traffic makes Air Pollutants (Parameters)

• Benzene(C6H6)
• 1,3∼butadiene
• Carbon
• Monoxide(CO), lead
• Nitrogen Dioxide(NO2)
• Ozone(O3)
• Particulate matter(PM10 and PM2.5) and
• sulphur dioxide(SO2)
Scenario Flow
DEAL WITH POLLUTION OR TRAFFIC..?

Pollution and traffic are two proportional terms more traffic is equal to increase in
pollution. Some of the problems and its preventions are as below.

Road Visibility

•Our proposal would also be useful in predicting the visibility of an area which
therefore will prevent accidents in those areas by predicting the users(dynamic nodes)
about the visibility conditions on the way ahead
•This therefore will prevent accidents and problems regarding visibility in an area
•Smog was one of the most talked topic during the year, due to the damage caused by
smog in areas of Delhi.
•Delhi’s Toxic smog led to 24-Car Accidents on Yamuna highway
•This happened because the people didn't knew the condition of the roads ahead.
How can will solve that problem…?
● Our proposal could solve this problem by predicting the road conditions
by the sensors present at the static node and then passing that information
to all the other static node across the area
● As the information gets available to the static nodes of the areas then it can
inform the dynamic node(users) about the road visibility conditions and
inform them hoe safe it is to go ahead.
● It can also reroute the path of there destination using our neural network
algorithm which will be present in the static nodes(street lights)
● Through this we could prevent many number accidents caused by
visibility issues.
Traffic Management based on air pollution monitoring
system

• Transport has a significant impact upon the environment in which we live.

In general, these impacts can be divided under two broad headings: local
air quality, climate change.
• Clean air is vital to human health.
• To reduce traffic or divert the traffic in order to balance the air pollution
level.
• Machine learning based air pollution level prediction system.
• Reduce the air pollutants which will results in good health.
Solution Direction
Air Pollution Monitoring System Infrastructure
How can Technology help in reducing pollution…?
● As advancement in Technology has increased the pollution rates in past
years due to rise in e waste
● However Technology can also be useful in reducing pollution
● In our proposal we are going to use machine learning and build a neural
network which will be useful in rerouting the traffic in case for avoiding
the concentration of traffic in one area and hence reducing the degrading
of air in that area which then results in high rates of air pollution in that
area
● Hence with the use of technology we avoid the degradation of air and
therefore reduce air pollution.
