Bribery

Gift giving is commonly practiced in business to show appreciation, establish goodwill, and compete with other businesses. It is usually done on special occasions like holidays and birthdays. However, gifts can constitute bribery if given to influence someone's actions or duties. Key factors that determine if a gift is actually a bribe include its value, purpose, relationship between giver and receiver, and compliance with laws and policies. Bribery can negatively impact many sectors like politics, health, education and the economy by facilitating corruption and compromising ethics and justice.

a 'bribe' is the offering, giving, receiving or soliciting

something of value for the purpose of influencing the
actions of an official in the discharge of his or her public or
legal duties.
If the property is given under general social appointment
and not related to the duty of the public official, then it is
a gift, not a bribe.
THINGS YOU MUST KNOW IF IT IS A GIFT
Gifts are given openly and the generosity of the giver is
publicized. Hence, everyone knows what has been given.
Gifts must be declared by the receiver as well as the giver. In
other words, the public should know about them.
There must be no link between the job or business of the giver
and the portfolio of the receiver. It would be highly irregular for
