Stye

An eye stye is a small, painful bump on the eyelid caused by an infection or inflammation of the sweat gland. It appears as a red, swollen pimple near the eyelashes and can be either internal or external. Styes are often caused by poor hygiene, rubbing the eyes, or sharing towels. Warm compresses are the primary treatment to reduce swelling and speed healing, and a doctor may prescribe ointment or drain the stye if it worsens or does not improve within two days.
