CONDITIONAL SENTENCES
Conditional Sentences are
also known as Conditional
Clauses or If Clauses. They
are used to express that the
action in the main clause
(withoutif) can only take
place if a certain condition
(in the clause withif) is
fulfilled. There are three
types of Conditional
Conditional Sentence Type 1
It is possible and alsovery
likelythat the condition will be
fulfilled.
Form:if+Simple Present,
will-Future
Example:
1. If I find his address, I will go to
his house for meet his mother to
talking the truth.
2. If Indah has the money, I will
buy a Lambhorgini.
Conditional Sentence Type 2
It is possible butvery
unlikely, that the condition will
be fulfilled.
Form:if+Simple Past,
Conditional I(= would + Infinitive)
Example:
1. If I became rich, I would go to
Mecca
2. If My husband were a soldier , I
would be happy
CONDITIONAL SENTENCE TYPE 3
It isimpossiblethat the
condition will be fulfilled because
it refers to the past.
Form:if+Past Perfect,Conditional II
(= would + have + Past Participle)
Example:
1. If I had met my boy friend two years
ago, I would have been his girl
friend.
2. If this morning I had breakfast , I
would have eaten fried rice
