Introduction
Rumour is a potentially harmful social
phenomenon that has been observed in all
human societies in all times. Social
networking sites provide a platform for the
rapid interchange of information and hence,
for the rapid dissemination of
unsubstantiated claims that are potentially
harmful in this project we will work on a
methodology that would enable us to collect,
identify and annotate a dataset of rumour
threads.
Objectives
Investigate rumor dynamics for the
complex networks while considering:
I. Varying tie strengths between
nodes.
II. Nonlinearly varying number of
neighbors are infected with the
rumor in each time step.
Objectives
Investigate rumor dynamics for the
complex networks while
considering:
I. Rumor spreading rate may depends
on the degree of the spreader and
ignorant nodes.
II. Node may contact only some of its
neighbors to spread the rumor.
Objectives
Identify the efficiency of random and
targeted inoculation schemes in the
proposed model to control the rumor
spreading.
Scope
The scope of the project is to
detect and define the type of
rumour spreading throughout
the social media by
automatically looking at the
conversational threads in the
network.
Application
This project can also be extended
into a standalone or plug-in
application which can be used in the
social media sites like Facebook,
Twitter etc. to detect any fake
threads of information spreading as
rumours, analyzing its affect on
network and analyzing various
inoculation strategies.
