The Department of Sociology was established in 2001 affiliated to Bangalore
University and right know since from the inception of 2005 affiliated to Tumkur
University. The college has the status of 2(F) and NAAC accredited Branking has
achieved. Sociology is the scientific study of social behaviour, including its origins,
development, organization, and institutions. It is a social science that uses various
methods of empirical investigation and critical analysis to develop a body of
knowledgeaboutsocialorder,socialdisorderandsocialchange.Manysociologistsaim
to conduct research that may be applied directly to social policy and welfare, while
othersfocusprimarilyonrefiningthetheoreticalunderstandingofsocialprocesses.
