MAIN ENGINE SAFETY SYSTEM
THE ME SAFETY SYSTEM IS DESIGNED FOR PROTECTING THE DIESEL
ENGINE AGAINST BREAKDOWN UNDER CONDITIONS DIFFERENT FROM
THOSE OF NORMAL OPERATION.

THE SYSTEM CONSIST OF TWO INDEPENDENT SUB SYSTEMS :

SLOWDOWN SYSTEM - PROVIDES LOAD SHEDDING FOR A TWO-
STROKE REVERSIBLE ENGINE WITH OUTPUT TO A FIXED PITCH
PROPELLER,BY REDUCING ENGINE RPM.
STUTDOWN SYSTEM - STOPS THE ENGINE BY CUTTING-OFF THE
FUEL [Link] OPERATES AFTER A TIME DELAY OF 10 SECS.

AFTER ACTUATION OF THE SYSTEM THE SAFETY RESET
BUTTON MUST BE PRESSED TO UNLOCK.

THE ME SLOWDOWN OCCURS UNDER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS,

CAMSHAFT LO LOW PRESSURE 2BAR

THRUST BEARING HIGH TEMP 75 deg C

PISTON COOLING OIL FLOW 16.9 KG/sec

SCAVENGE AIR HIGH TEMP 75 deg C

MAIN LO HIGH TEMP 70 deg C

PISTON LO OUTLET HIGH TEMP 85 deg C

MAIN BEARING HIGH TEMP 80 deg C

EXHAUST HIGH TEMP 460 deg C

JACKET COOLING WATER HIGH TEMP 96 deg C

JACKET COOLING WATER LOW PRESSURE 0.5 BAR

PISTON LO PRESSURE LOW 0.5BAR

EXHAUST TEMP DEVIATION 45 deg C

OIL MIST DETECTOR ALARM
