God created Man & Woman (Adam & Eve) in His own image.
Due to disobedience they lost their union with God.
They are separated from God. Sin rules over Man and leads to death.
Life without God leads to spiritual death
Sin makes us like a broken pot or jar. It cannot be used for its original
purpose. Even if put together, it will still leak. It is lifeless because it has
failed the purpose for which it was made. There is only one solution. The
potter has to make the pot all anew.
The story of salvation is the story of God making us anew. God restoring us
to our original dignity. When man fell into Sin the story of salvation began..
God wants to renew the earth which has become very sinful and rebellious.
God favors the righteous man Noah.
The Great Flood which destroys the earth and God renews the earth through
the righteous man Noah. The waters of the flood and new life symbolizes
the Christian Baptism
God interacts with Abram (later called
Abraham)
Who was entirely obedient and
submissive to God.
Abraham was even ready to sacrifice his
own son in obedience to God
God Makes a covenant with Abraham
He promises Abraham three things:
1. Land & Nation
2. Kingship & Name
3. Blessing for All Nations
Moses who was referred to as the meekest man in the world was
Called by God to lead His people out of Egypt (from slavery)
Moses leads them out of slavery through the Red Sea
The water and passing of the Red Sea symbolizes the Christian Baptism
God makes His people into a nation and gives them a land.
Gods first covenantal promise of land and nation is fulfilled
Moses receives the 10
commandments from God
God continued to
speak to His people
and guiding them
through the prophets
God Anoints David as King. David and Solomon worship the Lord in
the temple built for God. David becomes a great King
God fulfills the second covenantal promise of Kingship and Name
Gods third covenant;
Blessing for All
Nations is fulfilled
through Jesus Christ
Jesus gives us His life in order to save us
from death which came about from the
sin of Adam & Eve our first parents.
God gives us His Body &
Blood in the Eucharist. He
makes us one with Him.
The union which was lost
through Adams Sin of
disobedience is regained
by Christs sacrifice of
obedience
For God so loved the world that he gave his
only Son, so that everyone who believes in
him might not perish but might have eternal
life. (John 3:16)
Jesus Rose Again from death. He earned New Life for us. He
went back to His Father and is in Glory. He sent the Holy Spirit
on the Church. The Church continues to bring Gods salvation
through Christ to all men and women.
Because Christ has given His
own body to His Church. The
church becomes His Body.
God continues His work of
unifying men and women to
himself through the Church
We are like the broken and shattered pot. We have no life in us. But Christ
has died for us and has made it possible to turn us into new clay in Him.
To be re-built, brand new by God who is the potter.
He made us. We broke from Him. He calls us back to make us anew
God interacts with each one of us in a special way. He wants us to have a share in
His life. When we realize His touch, His call, His actions in our life, thats when we
know that we too are a part of His great Plan of creation. We too are a part of the
History of Salvation. Being led by God to union with Him. Being led by Him to NEW
LIFE
