The Geographic Position
The "Bermuda or Devil
Triangle" is an imaginary area located off the southeastern Atlantic coast of the United States. Its boundaries vary with the author, but the most used hypothesis is that of a Triangle that has its points somewhere on the Atlantic coast of Florida; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and the midAtlantic island of Bermuda.
The Location Of The Bermuda Triangle
A Short History
Even though planes and ships, and also over 8000 people have been disappearing in the Bermuda Triangle for the last centuries, the interest on its mystery is recent. Its name was given by the article Vincent Gaddis wrote in Argosy Magazine, in 1964, "The Deadly Bermuda Triangle. Going back in time, the cases that made The Bermuda Triangle famous are numerous. Here are some examples:
Christopher Columbus
In 1492 Christopher Columbus was on his famous journey, which would eventually lead him to the West Indies. He noted that the ships compass was acting strangely and giving inaccurate readings in the Sargasso Sea, and at one point he saw a fire trail across the sky which crashed into the sea.
The USS Cyclops
The incident resulting in the single largest loss of life in the history of the U.S. Navy not related to combat occurred when USS Cyclops went missing without a trace with a crew of 306 people, sometime after March 4, 1918, after departing the island of Barbados.
Flight 19
Flight 19 occurred in december 1945, when a group of five fighter planes that were on a practice mission, suddenly disappeared without a trace. Several hours later, when two rescue planes went out to look for them, one of them vanished too. What makes this case so bizzare is the messages pilots sent to the tower control, claiming theyve encountered a strange situation, which made the flight control officer think they went mad.
SS Marine Sulphur Queen
SS Marine Sulphur Queen, a T2 tanker converted from oil to sulfur carrier, was last heard from on February 4, 1963, with a crew of 39 people, near the Florida Keys.
Trying to explain this phenomenon, people found numerous causes, such as:
U.F.O.s
Sea Monsters
Monstrous Hurricanes, Tornados And Waterspouts, Thunderstorms
Meeting Place Of The South & North Magnetic Pole
Methane Gas & Gulf Stream
Conclusions
None of the explanations satisfactorily gave the reason for all the mysterious disappearances occurred in the Bermuda Triangle. Therefore, the Bermuda Triangle remains one of the greatest mystery on earth with all the secrets hidden deep beneath the ocean.
