Louisiana

Louisiana is a state located in the southern region of the United States of America.

Louisiana is the only state in the U.S. with political subdivisions termed parishes, local government's equivalent to counties.

Baton Rouge
Is the capital of the U.S. state of Louisiana and is placed near the Missippi river and largest city is New Orleans; the city is the second largest in the state, and has a population of 229,553 people; Baton Rouge is a major industrial, petrochemical, medical, and research center of the American South. The Port of Baton Rouge is the ninth largest in the United States in terms of tonnage shipped; the city has a vibrant mix of the cultures found throughout Louisiana; Baton Rouge has a humid subtropical climate with mild winters, hot and humid summers, moderate to heavy rainfall, and the possibility of damaging winds and tornadoes yearlong; Hurricane Gustav on September 1, 2008 was the worst hurricane ever to strike the Baton Rouge area; Baton Rouge is the middle ground of South Louisiana cultures, having a mix of Cajun and Creole Catholics and Baptists of the Florida Parishes and South Mississippi. Baton Rouge is a college city with Baton Rouge Community College, Louisiana State University , Our Lady of the Lake College, and Southern University [Link] whose students make up some 20% of the city population;

New Orleans
New Orleans is a major US port and the largest city and metropolitan area in the state of Louisiana. The population of the city is 343,829.

New Orleans was founded May 7, 1718, by the French Mississippi Company, under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville, on land inhabited by the Chitimacha. It was named for Philippe d'Orlans, Duke of Orlans, who was Regent of France at the time. His title came from the French city of Orlans. The French colony was ceded to the Spanish Empire in the Treaty of Paris (1763). The climate of New Orleans is humid subtropical with short, generally mild winters and hot, humid summers. Hurricanes pose a severe threat to the area, and the city is particularly at risk because of its low elevation, and because it is surrounded by water from the north, east, and south, and Louisiana's sinking coast. New Orleans is home to one of the largest and busiest ports in the world, and metropolitan New Orleans is a center of maritime industry. The New Orleans region also accounts for a significant portion of the nation's oil refining and petrochemical production; New Orleans was catastrophically affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. More than 1,500 people were recorded as having died in Louisiana, and others are still unaccounted for.

Some Louisiana urban environments have multicultural, multilingual heritage, being so strongly influenced by an admixture of 18th-century French, Spanish, Native American(Indian) and African cultures.

Louisiana was purchased by the Americans in 1803

Louisiana has a humid subtropical climate perhaps the most "classic" example of a humid subtropical climate of all the Southcentral states. It has long, hot, humid summers and short, mild winters.

TENNESSEE

Tennessee is a U.S. state located in the Southeastern United States

Tennessee is bordered by:

Kentucky and Virginia to the North Carolina to the east, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi to the south and Arkansas and Missouri to the west.

The Appalachian Mountains dominate the eastern part of the state and the Mississippi River forms the state's western border. Tennessee's capital and second largest city is Nashville. Memphis is the state's largest city.

Tennessee has played a critical role in the development of many forms of American popular music, including rock and roll, blues, country, and rockabilly. Beale Street in Memphis is considered by many to be the birthplace of the blues, with musicians such as W.C. Handy performing in its clubs as early as 1909. Memphis was also home to Sun Records, where musicians such as Elvis Presley, Isaac Hayes, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, and Charlie Rich began their recording careers, and where rock and roll took shape in the 1950s.

Tennessee's major industries include agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism. Poultry, soybeans, and cattle are the state's primary agricultural products, and major manufacturing exports include chemicals, transportation equipment, and electrical equipment.

The transitional climate of Delaware supports a wide variety of vegetation. In the northern third of the state are found Northeastern coastal forests and mixed oak forests typical of the northeastern United States

Delaware's agricultural output consists of poultry, nursery stock, soybeans, dairy products and corn.

Kaala is a small island near Niihau that is often overlooked. The Northwest Hawaiian Islands are a series of nine small, older masses northwest of Kauai that extend from Nihoa to Kure that are remnants of once much larger volcanic mountains.

There are also more than 100 small rocks and islets, such as Molokini, that are either volcanic, marine sedimentary or erosional in origin, totaling 130 or so across the archipelago.

The closest location on the mainland to Honolulu is the Point Arena Lighthouse in California, at 3,787 km. However, part of the Aleutian Islands of Alaska are slightly closer to Honolulu than the mainland.

Climate: Honolulu experiences a tropical savannah climate with a mostly dry summer season due to a rain shadow effect that suppresses summer rains and winter rainfall.

Economy: The largest city and airport in the Hawaiian Islands, Honolulu acts as a natural gateway to the islands' large tourism industry, which brings millions of visitors and contributes $10 billion annually to the local economy. Honolulu's location in the Pacific also makes it a large business and trading hub, particularly between the East and the West. Other important aspects of the city's economy include military defense, research and development, and manufacturing.
