Models and Simulation devices - advantages
Three dimensional concept of reality Size allows close examination Good for magnified situations (Eg Middle ear) Can be used to demonstrate function and construction Can permit learning and practice of different techniques Some can be made with local material
Dr. N Sivarajah H Ed - AHS 19
Models and Simulation devices - limitations
Craftsmanship required for local construction Simulation models often expensive Usable only for small groups Models often easily damaged without careful handling Never same as performing technique on a patient Eg CPR
Dr. N Sivarajah H Ed - AHS 20
Objects & Specimens - advantages
Three dimensional Present reality not substitutes Permits use of all senses in studying
Dr. N Sivarajah
H Ed - AHS
21
Objects & Specimens - Limitations
May not be easily obtainable Inconvenient size danger in use Cost may be high Only small groups can use Sometimes easily damaged Problems in storage
