Fleet Management of Technical Objects

Work Center

Work Center Definition

A work center is an organizational unit within an operational system. A work center for Fleet Management can be one of the following: Person Group of people Group of Machines Machine

Work Center Definition (cont)

In Fleet Management, work centers are used as:

- Main work center in the master record for vehicle, equipment o functional location - Main work center in a maintenance item - Main work center in the task list header - Performing work center in the operations for a task list - Main work center in the order header - Performing work center in the operations for an order

Work centers belong to the master data in Fleet Management and provide the capacity required to perform a maintenance task.

Functional Location Structure

Functional location = multi-level, hierarchical structure, organized according to ...

Area/Space Technical Functional

Criteria

Functional Location Structure (cont)

Functional locations are hierarchically ordered structures. You can structure the functional location according to: area/space (for ex: garage building 1, building 1 yard sand & gravel, piping) technical (for ex: pick-up truck, power train, GPS) functional, process-oriented criteria (for ex: electrical system, exhaust system) The aim of creating a functional location is to structure a technical system or building into units that are relevant for Fleet Maintenance.

Functional Location (cont)

For what purpose is a functional location created?
Execution of maintenance tasks Recording of maintenance tasks Data collection over long periods of time Cost monitoring by area What affect do the usage conditions have on the likelihood of damage to the installed aggregates?

Equipment (cont)
A piece of equipment is an individual physical object that is to be maintained as an autonomous unit.

Pieces of equipment usually represent single objects (for example pumps, motors, vehicles), for which maintenance tasks should be recorded. Equipment can be installed at functional locations.

Equipment (cont)
The equipment master record uses the following views in the standard system:

General tab: Class, object type, reference data, and manufactur data. Location tab: Location data, address Organization tab: Account assignment (for ex:, company code, cost center), responsibilities (for ex:, maintenance planning pla Structure tab: For ex:, Installed at a functional location or at another piece of equipment

Bill of Material (BOM) (cont)

The maintenance bill of material differs from other BOMs in that it only contains items relevant to Fleet Management activities. The maintenance bill of material has three important functions: Structuring of the object The structure of an object should be displayed as clearly as possible from a maintenance viewpoint. Spare parts planning in the order If a bill of material exists for a technical object, it can be used during the planning process of a maintenance order for the purpose of spare parts identification and planning. Spare parts planning in the task list Spare parts can be planned in the task list based on a bill of material.

Bill of Material (BOM) (cont)

Three are three categories of maintenance bill of material: Material BOM Used for a number of similar vehicle that needs to be maintained. The aim is not to create a bill of material for each like fleet vehicle, but to create just one bill of material and then assign this to the each similar fleet vehicle. Equipment BOM Can only be used for a specific fleet vehicle Functional location BOM Can only be used for a specific functional location

Measuring Points
Measuring points describe the physical and/or logical locations at which a condition is described, (for example, vehicle mileage, or fuel comsumption).
Measuring points for Fleet Management are located on pieces of equipment or functional locations.

A Fleet Management measuring document is the result of a measurement or counter reading being entered in the the system.

Vehicle Classification & Characteristics

What is a Class??? A Fleet class is a placeholder, a bucket or repository that hold a Fleet Vehicles Characteristic information. A Fleet class is assigned to the Fleet Vehicle Master Data Record.

TASK LIST
Definition:

Maintenance task lists describe a series of individual maintenanc activities. You can use them to standardize recurring activities, pla them more effectively, and save time when creating maintenance orders and preventive maintenance plans. In the Fleet Management system, maintenance task lists can be used for routine and preventive maintenance work. Task lists also specify which spare parts and tools are required for operations an the time needed to perform the work. There are three types of a Task List: for a particular Functional Location, for a particular Fleet Vehicle or General, which may use across the board for similiar vehicles.
